In September my appeal for acquired Central Auditory Processing Disorder linked to jet fuel exposure was granted. I was rated at 10%. The day after my decision letter was sent the VA internally made an exam request. This first request was for a record review but was modified several times. Now the exam request is for a record review and an in person exam. A month after the first exam request my lawyer filed for a higher level review.
The DBQ that will be used is the TBI DBQ. Has anyone had dealt with this before? If so how did it turn out?

Have you found a condition that better fits?
I have not. It’s categorized as a neurological disorder and TBI is the closet the VA has.

I had to do the same thing with my disease as they had only rated it a few times. They had no place for it and so I had to guide them to where it fit the best. I made an arguement and it worked. It fit the syptoms and thus they went with it and sent it from 0% to 10% to 30% to 60% now. It was a long fight but worth it!
That is good to hear. I’m just not sure how it will work out since the TBI DBQ’s don’t address my symptoms.

They will always try to lowball you. This is just my experience. But now that you have a rating it does get a bit easier.
They are likely scheduling me an appointment but the closest DBQ is for TBI. So it could be a crapshot.

I'm pursing the CAPD relating to Jet Fuel since I do not have any in-service event of TBI. Did they VA also issue you "special" hearing aids? I have read in other websites that many of those that have CAPD are just given hearing aids from the VHA and the VBA does not then award them a rating.
In September after 6 years my appeal was granted for CAPD linked to jet fuel exposure. I am happy to share research I've found. They awarded me 10% but my lawyer is fighting it.

I couldn't tell you what the next step is. I had to hire a lawyer to get me where I am. It took me 6 years in the appeal process to get my CAPD granted. I had a diagnosis from a VA neurosurgeon but still had to have my lawyer find a doctor to provide a nexus letter.
The VA granted my CAPD in Sept. 2023 as a neurological disorder and just recently more specifically as central nervous system. They initially rated it at 10% but we fought that and I'm still waiting on the VA for their final rating decision.
It sounds like you have what you need from the doctor. Hopefully you are working with a good VSO that can help guide you in next steps. I have a bunch of research that links JP8 and noise exposure to hearing loss. I sent you a message on here if you want it.
Never give up! Good luck.
