  1. Where do you post a question about this? I'm 100% service connected, lived out west and was in the process of getting dental implants. They had already pulled some teeth, removed a bridge, and prepped my mouth. Mother was placed on Hospice and asked me to stay with her while she passed- I went -without hesitation! I told my VA dentist about what I was going to do and he said: it's okay- you will get your treatment plan completed when you get to your new VAMC go to your nearest one when you get to where you are going and enroll as soon as you can Well, I did. I went. And they said, "we don't have the facilities or staff to do that here" so I went to the next closest VA who says, "I don't know how to do that" So, I'm stuck! The VA here refuses to do my implants or milbill it out to a civillian. So, I'm looking at going to Mexico. I just don't know what to do. The VA already prescribed it, already started the treatment plan....but they just won't do it here. I read on the forums that some have compelled the VA to do it... how exactly? I have a dental appt on April 23rd- what exactly do I say? I know they are going to say, we are going to give you some dentures but some of my teeth are missing because the VA pulled them for implants! (there were some baby teeth and a massive root system intertwined- not like healthy good teeth were pulled) Can anyone help me along in this?
  2. This is my second post, the first one was never posted for some reason unless there is a 24 hour delay or something. Long story short...if a person only worked 6 months in their entire life (enlisted in military at 17 and got messed up in the war), SSD says they are not penalized for having such a short work period.... face it! The employer(DoD) only paid 6 months of the social security tax for them. But SSD says military has a 'special' credit...meaning dollar for dollar earned- they compensate for such a short work life. This disabled veteran receives 30% less than the average paid SSD benefit. SSD also does a special thing for those who become disabled so young.... how can a disabled vet ensure they are really receiving the military credit? When SSD is called, a quick "yes, you are" is given. But that benefit was based off a worksheet - which doesn't follow the electronic file. When the worker did the worksheet, they may have not been aware of 'military' credits. How can a vet really find out?
  3. When a youngster becomes disabled at an eary age the SSA(social security administration) doesn't discount their ability to collect benefits eventhough they/their employer paid in next to nothing due to short work history. I'm referring to a military member of just 17/18/19 years of age who gets messed up. VA-no problem, rated at 100%....but SSA is a different story. SSA is supposed to give 'extra' or 'special' credit for military service versus a civillian job. But how does a vet know for sure they got the credits? The SSA sends disability payments that are 200-300 below the average payout for disability....meaning that youngster isn't receiving what the 'average' disabled person does. Oh, ask the SSA- sure...but with workers being overworked/underpaid and not really knowledgeable about military matters....the response was, "sure, you're getting the credit". How can a vet see it for themselves....the actual amount of credits they received based on their/employer paid premiums, and then see the 'extra/special' military credit?
