Ssd, Getting You Started On Your Research
I have a website entitled howtoassemblevaclaims.com. It is intended to guide veterans/dependents in researching, organizing and assembling a va claim/appeal. Right now, revisions are with the web designer. Included is information on Social Security Disability pertaining to Job Description. Because I know a lot of you will never access my site, I am including here, an excerpt from what will eventually be added to it. My only concern is to help veterans, whether you go to my site or read it here. Either way is fine with me. I wish you success. fanaticbooks EXCERPT from revision eventually going on howtoassemblevaclaims.com ********************************…

SSDI - Reconsideration Phase
Hi, I’m going through the appeal/reconsideration process now (filed 8/23/23) on step 3 of 5 as I was denied on my initial filing in which I filled 9/16/2022). Just to give you a brief medical background, I have depression, PTSD, anxiety, insomnia, hypersomnia, sleep apnea w/CPAP, migraines, headaches, tinnitus, cubital tunnel syndrome in both arms, and I am going through the process now with my Orthopedic doctor to diagnose cervical spine and neck pain and stiffness. I am a disabled veteran rated at 90% currently going through the process of being rated at 100%. It looks like I will be going the TDIU (Total Disability Individual Unemployability) route as I have not worked…

Social Security recipients could see 8.7% COLA bump as inflation soars
Social Security recipients could see 8.7% COLA bump as inflation soars The roughly 70 million people – retirees, disabled people and others – who rely on S Social Security could receive an 8.7% cost-of-living adjustment, or COLA, next year, according to an estimate by Mary Johnson, a policy analyst for the Senior Citizen League, an advocacy group. That would be the largest increase since 1982. For the average retiree who got a monthly check of $1,656 this year, the bump would mean an additional $144.10 a month in 2023, boosting the typical payment to $1,800, Johnson estimates. “A boost by that much is certainly going to ease the (budget)…

Online SSDI application
I just filled out the online application for SSDI. There was no place or question regards my VA disability rating of 100% and being P&T. So, I just copied and pasted my P&T awards summary into the last comment text block. Anyway, you would think they SS would have VA disability as one of their questions, but, That would be too easy, Carl This should be a fun trip...

My anxiety prevents me from using the phone. What can I do?
I keep being told i need to make a phone call. People keep giving me a call back, but I can't pick up. I have been even having issues since the pandemic started because I cannot use telehealth. Seems like nobody understands. So I am damn near giving up. I am also technically homeless, due to always being in fear, I have to keep moving. I am rated 100 by the VA. I just wish I could email someone, but I keep seeing that legally I have to talk on the phone. I can't. This has been very hard. I don't mind going to an SSA office, I just am never put. Sorry everyone, I don't want to worry anybody, an other reason I can't stay put. I don't even know what my question really is. Ju…

FERS Disability Retirement
Does anyone here on the forum have any experience with FERS disability retirement? Im well verse with SSA since that was my last job as a claims specialist but FERS is different, I know that the criteria they look for is different from SSA, for SSA you have to be completely unemployable including sedentary work, FERS on the on the other hand looks to see why the disabled individual is not able to complete their duties at the position they hold and what accommodations were made if any, would like to know if any other veteran here has had experience with FERS disability retirement

SSD Claim Denied by Judge
Hello guys, I am looking for a good SSD attorney in Florida. I am 50 years old and my claim was just denied by an Administrative Law Judge. I have not received the denial in the mail yet so not sure exactly why denied. I do currently have an attorney but she has been less than aggressive to say the least. I am rated 80% disabled by the VA and receive TDIU benefits. I actually received SSS benefits from 2002-2004 but went back to work for about 6 years until my condition got worse again. I thought it would be relatively simple to get the SSD re-instated, especially since I now receive TDIU benefits from the VA. Wrong. I receive 70% for PTSD, 10% for tinnitus, and 1…

Reconsideration Phase - Never sent to an exam by SSA
Hey all, I’m in the reconsideration phase of my SSDI claim. The weird thing is SSA hasn’t sent me to an exam, and the adjudicator already notified my attorney stating she will forward my file to the SSA doctors for review/decision. I have plenty of medical history about my mental health disabilities ranging from in-patient hospitalizations to suicidal thoughts and attempts. I’m just wondering has anyone been approved for SSDI for a mental health disability without going to an exam?

SSDI Disability Update Report
Good evening everyone, I have been on SSDI now for 6 years for anxiety/depression/migraine issues. 3 years ago SS sent me a full medical review which I filled out and got all the necessary documents and sent off. I was reproved and that was that. Fast forward 3 years and this week I got a letter from SS. They are asking me to fill out this 2 page disability update report. Why are they asking for this report and not a full medical review? I was actually expecting the full medical review. Just curious if anyone has dealt with this. As always thanks!

2022 Could Give Social Security Checks Their Biggest Boost in a Decade
Of course it is way too early to know how all this will take place and by some magical unicorn it will drop and end up being nothing but hype. Inflation fears have rocked the stock market in recent weeks as investors wrestle with the prospects for substantially higher interest rates for the first time in years. Yet inflation also poses a threat to retirees who rely on Social Security for most or all of their financial support. Those living on fixed incomes have to find ways to stretch their money further even when prices are on the rise. Fortunately, Social Security institutes annual cost of living adjustments (COLA) that are supposed to address the loss of purc…

ssdi cessation help
SO I been on ssdi since 2011 or 2012 for ptsd. I am rated 100% p&t for ptsd by the VA. I just had a cdr and they're going to stop my ssdi. The reason they gave is this, 'Medical evidence in file shows that you do have mental health conditions. However, your conditions are not so severe as to meet the requirements for social security disability. We have considered your mental health conditions and have determined that you are still capable of simple work that does not require sustained social interaction. We do not have sufficient vocational information in file to determine if you are able to perform any of your past work. However, based on the evidence in file, …

Social security is so confusing
I have barely worked since ETSing in 2004 and recently was awarded 100% p&t. I originally applied for SSDI in 2016 when I still had credits but was denied. I applied again in 2019 and they said my credits ran out. So now reapplying since I am unemployable, is this just a waste of time, or will they consider the fact that I was a good earner up until my service connected injuries? It does seem like a long shot but also seems unfair to deny someone until they are out of credits. Any knowelege/expertise on ssdi ssi would be greatly appreciated, I have no clue

To Appeal again or just forget it?
My husband is rated 70% for PTSD. In January of 2020, he was finally marked unemployable and paid at the 100% rate. A couple months later, he applied for SSI disability since the VA has said that he isn't employable. He was instantly denied, so he sought out the advice of an attorney that specializes in SSI. The lawyer told him his case was a no brainer and he would be awarded social security disability. He had his telephone appeal at the beginning of this month and we just received the denial (attached here) in the mail. Based on what he received in the mail, should he even try to appeal again? The military says he cannot work. Shouldn't SSI take that into accoun…

100% disabled filed for ssdi
Hi. I am 100% disabled from the Army. Non p&t, but I've been disabled for almost 8 years now. I filed for social security August 2019. I am still on the initial phase and I just had my psych eval. I tried working at the post office, but I ended up getting fired for not being able to properly deliver parcels on several occasions. I have been on and off work every other 6 months or so. I went back to school, but failed my classes after graduating community College. I'm 29, and employed making about 700$ a month. My condition is psychosis schizophreniform 100%, and ptsd. Do I have a chance?

ssdi ssdi continuing disability review
It's been about 7 years since my last ssdi review. Since then I have divorced my ex wife and have custody of my son. Last time I filled out SSDI papers the VA helped me fill them out. Before my ex would do everything and I never left the house much. On SSDI's 10 page review paperwork I forgot information and know I didn't do a good job. Had to call and tell them I forgot to list a medication or two. I got a call yesterday from the reviewer asking if I'd be willing to see a doctor they'd pay for. I said yes. This has me freaking out. I am rated 100% P&T for ptsd and my ssdi is just for ptsd. I told ssdi I go to the store, park with my son, and that is an improveme…
