ptsd Just Applied For Ss Disability Benefits.
Hi......i was very recently awarded 100% P/T for PTSD so yesterday (Nov. 21st) i went to my local SS office and applied in person for benefits. You CAN apply online but eventually you'll need to see someone with a heart-beat anyway coz SS wants to see an original or certified copy of your birth certificate so i figured what the heck i'll just go and get it over with. The SS person you deal with makes up a file for you so bring any relevant/pertinent information you wish SS doctors to see in your SS file even before they contact VA and your doctors. They'll make copies of things you wish to submit but it's a faster process if you have your own copies in-hand as i did upon arr…

Warning #2
Well I was just strung along by the local University hospital and had to stay overnite there. It was a miserable stay, I was told I "had to be there at 0730" I got up at 0300 hours drove the 100 miles and showed up early I was told the Doctor has an emergency and it would be a little while longer, being reasonable, hungry, tired I put up with this "ACT" or dog and pony show. I was going to go home by 1100 hours till they cajolled me into staying, At 1400 hours they did the proceedure and gave me so many blood thinners I was forced to stay overnite. :D When we got home and checked the mail, the Hospital had sent me a "demand letter" for $917.00 for the medicare copay. …

Possible Grounds For A Class Action Law Suit
When I became 100% T&P I was told that the VA would take care of all of my health care. Well, I have finally gotten the SSA to agree that I am disabled and have been granted SSD. Then I get a notice that I will have to pay $78/month premium for Part B+deductibles+co-pays. If the VA is responsible for providing me with complete healthcare, why should I have to pay a monthly premium for Medicare? Doesn't that represent an unfair tax burden on disabled veterans? And, if I seek treatment outside the VA and have to pay deductibles, and co-pays and a claim is filed with Medicare, doesn't that just transfer costs that are the VA's responsibility thus hidding the t…

Medicare
I have a friend , non vet and non disabled, who gets a small SSA check as he took the early retirement amount. He is 65 in January and asked me how he applies for Medicare -but he is waiting until in December- I kind of think he should apply now- SSA told me that in 2006 they will switch me to my other husband's account- and they said call 4 months before my birthday- I think he should start the Medicare app process now (I dont think he is even eligible-long story there) Should he- to at least find out if he is eligible? He only paid into SSA for a few years I think- I still havent figured out how to delete- answered my own question- Medicare web site DUH- …

tdiu Tdiu, Va Vs. Ssdi
I know the VA gives you a percentage for your disability, does the SS do the same for SSDI? I have some non service connected disabilities that combined with what I hope to be service connected, make me TDIU as far as SS is concerned. Does the SS give a percentage for each area or part of the body that is affected by a disability or do they just make a total assessment of the disability? In my award letter from SS, they only listed what was sufficient for award purposes, they didn't go into detail and list every item I listed, as the cause of my unemployability and the perminance of their effects. Also I am curous if the VARO must consider TDIU even if not found…
