Family Ssdi Benefits
I read family benifits for spouse and kids can be up to 150-180 percent of the disabled persons payments- Is this in addition to disabled persons payment or included- IE- Disabled payment $1000+$1500 (150%)= $2500, or is it disabled payment $1000 * 150%= $1500? Just curious because I was recently awarded but was told not I have to go in and file a seperate claim for the family and need to get an estimate on their back payments Thanks Raven

ptsd Not Eligable For Ssdi
I am Not eligable for SSDI because I only worked 2 of my last 10 years. I have applied for IU along with an increase in my SC for PTSD. Is there anything else available for people in my position? The past 10 years I have tried to work and I have been successfull for a few months and then I get confused and forgetful and parenoid and isolate. I tried this back in 1999 and again in 2005 with the same results. I am medicated for PTSD now 1 year ago I was diagnosed with PTSD and I didn't believe it so I tried to work and this is what happened. Thanks, Witchhouse

Medicare
Got my SSDI approved with a date of Dec 03- I am retired and have Tricare Prime family coverage for wife and kids- Should I look into the Medicare deal- From what I have read I will automatically be enrolled in Medicare but I have not heard anything? Also, the only thing I got to know I was approved was a vague 4 page letter stating the effictive date and monies due- then a bunch of can statements- Nowhere does it give details on my disability or when I can expect a review- Do they send a more detailed package or is this the normal package they send Thanks Raven

What Is An "eligible Family Member"?
Hi all: Looking over my old SSDI information from 2003, I noticed a statement under "Your Disability Benefits". It says, "You and your eleigible family members could get up to a monthly total of $1500.50". That's about $400 dollars more a month than I get now. What do they mean by "eligible family member"? I don't have children but I am married. Any thoughts? Thank you, Mike S.

Ssdi - 5 Year Limit
Hi everyone, I have had my ups and downs with SS before, as with many of you, I was fighting SS at the same time with VA. I got a letter from SS one day, which states that i no longer qualify for SSDI, and this was at the 5 year mark, I was fighting SS all this time not knowing my time was running out. During this 5 yr rule, It looked like i was going to get SSDI by the way the SS board acted, I know now that it was a dog and pony show. I also noticed to, during this time frame, my medical card was yanked from under me, this was how i was getting my meds since i live so far from the VA hospital (this was before i found out VA ships meds). Maybe I pissed so…

Soc. Sec Has Lost My Files ?
. I won't go into the cat fight that I have had with SS in detail .. but here are the minor details and I am livid. .. (1) .. I filed on my own disablities and was denied due to my own disability dates not going back far enough and I am working to find medical records & etc. to establish a date further back. .. (2) .. I filed on my deceased wife's SS and was granted a much smaller amount and that was approved months ago and they needed a birth certificate .. which I sent them UPS next day air. Now, SS is telling me two different things. ......(1) They (SS) can not find my birth certificated and will be closing my claim. ......(2) They (SS) ha…

wish I knew long ago I could do this while at the same time working a piss ass pizza delivery job a couple nights a week :P Counselor said I am not feasible for voc rehab, I have a serious employment handicap ande should have no problem getting SSDI. I am so :( when I think that the Social Security Administration will probablly treat me better than the VA does............ Counselor told me I will be getting a new bed, vacum, computer stuff, driving assesment, gym membership and i forget what else, my head is spinning ,more than normal right now, but its in a positive spin :P which I am in dire need of right now.

Widow's Ss
Can anyone tell me if a widow collects the full amount of her husband's social security? Seems I heard years ago that a widow would collect her own or half of her deceased husband's, whichever is higher.
