Family Ssdi Benefits

Question

I read family benifits for spouse and kids can be up to 150-180 percent of the disabled persons payments- Is this in addition to disabled persons payment or included- IE- Disabled payment $1000+$1500 (150%)= $2500, or is it disabled payment $1000 * 150%= $1500? Just curious because I was recently awarded but was told not I have to go in and file a seperate claim for the family and need to get an estimate on their back payments

Thanks

Raven

when i recieved my disability it was for 150%. mine was about $1600 for myself and $800 for the family maximum for a total of $2400.00. I don't know when they use the 180%, unless its for people with low income such as $600.00 + 180% just not sure.
