  1. Hey Everyone,

I am new to the board. I just had my C&P exam for PTSD. I have a non-combat stressor. My best friend died in service and I escorted his body home. He died in a drowning accident. I didn't see him die but I can't seem to not think about how it affected me. It's been a long time since he died. Anyway, Anyone every feel like the examiner doesn't believe what your saying? Is so, let me know

    Thanks

  2. Hi: I'm a oif veteran. I just got my rating decision letter for my first claim in august 2009. I was rated 30% for PTSD, 10% for lumbar spine strain, 10% cervical spine strain and 10% for varicocele. My question is: can I ask for another c&p exam instead of appealing my PTSD claim? Since my c&p exam on feb 2009 I've been going down hill because of my PTSD. Increase in anxiety, panic, anger and haven't been working for the last 3 months due to my sc disabiliies, ie:neck and back pain. :) B) If not what are my options. I'm new in this and my memory is not good at all so please bear with me. I'm also a Purple heart recipient, don't know if that mathers. Any advice on what I can do.

Also on my claim it states that "a higher evaluation of 50% is not warranted unless there is reduce reliability and productivity due to such symptoms as: panic attacks more than once a week". Then somewhere in the next paragraph states that my records of the Va hospital I go to contain information about my panic attacks "reported as ocurring on average 3 to 4 times per week. Did they miss that part and granted me 30% instead of 50%? panic attack 3 to 4 times a week are also mention by my mental health dr on my Va records? Any help with this one too please!!!

They generally will order a new exam if the old one is over 1 year. You could file for an increase and have them review your records. By the time they VCAA you it will probably be over a year and give you a new exam. If not, then they can use your treatment records to evaluate you for an increase

  3. Hello All, This is my first post. I was in the Army from 1991 to 1996 during which, my best friend died. I didn't actually witness the event but I was in his unit and I escorted his body home. He was in a boating accident and was missing for 6 months. I have over the last 6-7 years started have symptoms of PTSD. I would probably attribute this War as bringing back all these memories. Anyway, I had my C&P exam today and to say the least it went horrible. He didn't seem to ask to many questions about my symtoms and I have trouble expressing myself. I haven't seen any professional help but I am going to get in touch with the VET center in my area. I think I probably won't get S/C because of no diagnosis. Anyway, was looking for you thoughts.

  4. Okay, im kinda new to this but found this site helpful in the past with the questions i had through reading past post. So heres my scenerio... i got a call about a month ago for c&p exam to evaluate my current condition of major depression/ anxeity rated at 100% to see if it had worsened or improved. I went in a week later for the exam. I felt like everything went well b/c i was just honest about what i am going through and the things that happened to me to bring me here. At the end of the appt. she stated that my condition hadnt gotten better but was actually worse and definitly needed diffent meds. Long story short, yesterday i got "the letter" from DAV "this was not intended to serve as official notice but..." i go on to read and it states " Evaluation of PTSD with major depressive disorder (previously evaluated as depressive disorder and panic disorder with agoraphobia), which is currently 100 percent disabling,is continued." i guess my question is i didnt even know i put in a claim for PTSD, although they did say something about in my award letter in 2006 but since i didnt put in for it they hadnt evaluated me for it, thats not even what i was told i was going in for... but with this new Dx will increase my chances of getting P&T? Thanks

Does the rating state that you are going to be reevaluated? Is there a future exam date in the boxes at the top of the rating? Authorized chap35? If authorized, you are P&T.
