Jay Johnson
Well, considering the recent horrible rate of inflation in the housing market, a large COLA increase is needed, as most vets have had a sharp decline in standard of living over the last 4 years or so. SEJones
Good News...it looks like they used the numbers from 2003. But it works out to 4.1 increase after last years COLA.

HadIt.com Elder wallyg Posted November 18, 2005 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted November 18, 2005 (edited) That was from the Senate site, this one from the House site shows only a 2.7% raise. Nothing is agreed, or valid, until the differences are ironed out, and they send a consolidated proposal forward for the President's signature. http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/C?c109...emp/~c109zWcK8E The Senate shows a 6.9% increase, by the time they reach a compromise, if we're lucky it may be 4.1%. HadIt.com Elder wallyg Posted November 19, 2005 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted November 19, 2005 (edited) Has anybody noticed this little snippet from Military.com; Retired Pay COLA Increases Each year your military retirement pay is adjusted to meet the increased cost of living. This Cost of Living Adjustment varies from year to year based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The COLA for 2006 will be 4.1 percent for retired pay, SBP annuities, Social Security, and veterans disability compensation effective December 1, 2005 and will be seen in the January 15, 2006 paycheck. Retirees who first became a member of a Uniformed Service before September 8, 1980 and retired after January 1, 2005 will receive a 3.4 COLA. For more information, visit 2006 Retirement COLA. Looks like the Pentagon/Congress is pulling the old,'Save money by delaying the troops pay', trick AGAIN. Edited November 19, 2005 by wallyg Fight the VA as if they are the enemy; for they are!
