New Orleans Varo

Question

I just received a certified return receipt in the mail yesterday for a claim filed for my husband this past summer with the New Orleans VARO. The NOLA VARO shut down due to Hurricane Katrina, and I thought the Muskogee OK VARO was handling all Louisiana claims. I checked the VA website and didn't find anything about this. I heard that the NOLA VARO intended to relocate to Gretna, LA and open on December 1st, but haven't seen anything to confirm this.

Does anyone here know more about this?

This is the VA Katrina home page- but I dont see any updates-

If that link doesnt work just put Katrina into the VA search button-

I know the NO VARO claims were sent to other facilities-but it sure be great to know what is what- there may be some more information via phone numbers at the Katrina VA site.

I called the VA 800 number and received the following information.

The New Orleans regional office has re-opened at a temporary site. They are not accepting phone calls, however, they are receiving and processing claims. The address is 671 Whitney Ave., Building A, Gretna, Louisiana 70054.
