Oral Vrs Topical Steroids And Diagnasic Code 7806 Used For An Increase In Skin Conditions

Rate this question

So the fact is that you cannot get an increase from using a topical steroid cnly a oral or injected one used for six weeks or more during the course of a year meaning either before the year or after the year as long as its six weeks,or motr consistantly or near consistant and why is topical not considered if in fact this is true?

Because that is the way the rating schedule is set up.

The "why" is most likely that a Topical Steroid is viewed as a local effect wheras an Oral Steroid is a whole systemic effect and has a significantly more pronounced effect, side effects and long term consequences.

Maybe this is a poor analogy but he it goes anyway. Do you need your respiration monitored when a doctor gives you a local anestetic? Would your doctor fully anethetize you (unconcious) without the proper support equipment and monitoring?

Best regards,
