Question

mikes8_001.thumb.jpg.447870a1b6b8f3fb9a7 I just came across a copy of my separation physical when I was honorably discharged in 1986. It states on the last page  " on set of asthma " and " qualified for separation only ". I got a normal honorable discharge.

since then I have had a long battle with asthma, , lots of meds.

I was wondering if they should have given me a medical discharge and should I file a VA claim ?

First off Welcome aboard and happy to see another Good Vet get on the Hadit Train.  You should file a VA claim as long as you were diagnosed, and continue to seek treatment. As far as a Medical Discharge, I seriously doubt it bud. Your wording states Onset of Asthma, not Chronic. If you are not currently getting health care at the VA, you should be. I have bad Asthma with black spots and scar tissue on my Lungs, yet I only get 10%. Good luck and keep us posted. God Bless and  hope you have a good Christmas.

well I finished filing my claim,

I had my doctor fill out the questionnaire

got my prescription records that showed my drug uses since 2012 ( pretty much daily use of steroids , rescue inhalers and albuterol )

got copies of er room visits

guess I just wait for my denial and file against it .

well I hit the %30 percent mark, missed %60 by one point!

A simple change in one prescription will take care of that, just happy it made it this far !
