Looking for a psychologist in/near Chicago to perform a DBQ

Question

I have called over 20 psychologists in the area and have asked for an evaluation on a DBQ.  None would do it.  Most said they have never done one before, were not qualified, or just flat out refused.

Does anyone have a name of someone I may be able to get this done with?  The VA keeps screwing me over and I'm trying to get a fair and unbiased evaluation.

I'm currently living in my car and savings are almost out.  Trying hard to get this claim through.  DAV says there is a very high likelihood of success and a solid rating if I can get a psychologist to give me this DBQ.  The trouble is finding one.

Thank you.

I've been dealing with the same exact issue with neurologists. I'm waiting to hear back from the VA VHA doctor to see if they'll do one; but from what I understand, even most VHA doctors don't want to do VBA DBQs either. This is one way for the VA to say they're helping, without doing so. I wonder what sort of back-channel discussions take place in the medical community about these DBQs...

Sgt. Wilky,

I was recently rated for chronic daily migraines and the DBQ was done by an independent examiner that my DAV rep set up for me.  The company was called 'QTC Medical' and my rep did all the legwork.  I had a hard time finding a neuro to do one as well, and was denied by the VA several times.  With only one evaluation with a Dr. from QTC and I was approved.  I highly recommend you talk to your VSO and find out if they can get you scheduled for an exam with QTC Medical, or perhaps another company depending on your area.

My psych eval with QTC was initially denied (the examiner was asking questions and adding info that had nothing to do with my current mental health situation), so I'm not going to be returning, even though the migraine eval went very well.  DAV said to get a private psych to do the eval, and then he and I can go over it before submission.  Just trying to find one.

To be honest I am so disgusted with this whole process and pissed off at myself for trying to take the high road and not submitting a claim years ago, that I just don't give a damn anymore.  It's only money, and I refuse to live in the gutter any longer, so xxxx it.  If doctors had done their job in the beginning I'd never be here, and all I wanted was adequate help.  Integrity is lost upon the medical establishment.  I'm taking the money and going to another country to try and get the medical help I need there.  I am done with US healthcare.

Best of luck.
