Effective Date

I need help in determining the “official” date of my request for increased disability benefits. This may sound simple; however, it is not for me.

I went into my local County Service Office in November 2004 and talked to the clerk about requesting an increase. She typed something in the computer which generated the form that was from my RO. I filled that out and submitted it in January 2005.

Would my effective date (for payment purposes) be November 2004 or January 2005? If you need more information please ask.

Todd- I would say Jan of 2005, as this is when you formally filed the claim.
