Question

Hello I have a question,  I am helping a fellow veteran develop his VA Claim.  He recieved a letter back from the VA requesting "proof" he was in vietnam.  When I sent in his original Compensation paperwork I included a copy of the ship log that stated the ship was in yankee station 2 may 1971 plus additional ship log dates.  His DD214 states "Served in Vietnan" also he recieved the VSM(1) and the VCM (d) plus other medals thoughout his service...also he had foot on ground but unfortunately being in his 80's he does not recall the days he went ashore for supplies ...the question is what am I missing what kind of proof does the VA require to show his ship was there so I can send them the correct infomation...thank you for reading my question.
