  1. All,

I am one of the few that are stricken with Bipolar disorder aggravated by Military service.

Of course getting the SC is the hard beginning. After that you struggle to get past the 10% that is mostly issued for this disorder.

I am here today to tell you it can be done! This week I received my latest Award letter.

    100% just for the bipolar.

The key really is patience and excellent records. If you have the documentation and a few years, it can happen.

    I started at 30%, then 50% and now 100%.

    Hang in there all......

  2. Hey All.

I went to my C&P almost a year ago.

I dont know who she was because she never introduced herself, or gave me a title.

I am a bipolar patient of 8 years (very documented in the VA).

she spent 5 minutes asking me worthless questions, then told me my problem was all personality disorders not bipolar.

she then went as far as acusing me of using heroin. when I became upset, she said she felt unsafe and ended the interview.

I responded later in letters to the VA voicing my complaint. They launched an investigation but I never heard anything.

Now my claim is in the middle of the decsion board and im wondering how much weight that could carry.

    thanx

  3. Berta,

Thank you so much for your reply! After waiting so long with the VA, its wonderful having help so fast.

I have indeed applied for the TDIU as well as T&P (two seperate claims I think).

Your absolutely right about the T&P benefits, as I have several dependants.

Just two questions, 1. what is a vocational expert medical opinion and how do I get one?

    2. What is this SMC S you speak of?

I just learned that you can have social security and VA disability at the same time so I just hired an attorney and the ball is rolling.

Thank you again for the info I am learning every day!

  4. I stumbled upon this site while looking for information on my claim. I guess everybody tries to predict the outcome while we wait.

I am a Bipolar Veteran of 8 years now. I am SC, first at 30%, then at 50% and now I am waiting on my decision for my claim for 100% P&t.

My VA Dr's had me quit working 2 years ago now. They say im done with work. I have been inpatient hospitalized more than a dozen times, and have been on almost all psychiatric medications including two bouts with eletric shock.

I am still unable to go anywhere with people without severe anxiety.

I have provided the VA along with my claim, a long list of real jobs lost over the years stemming from the White House, Homeland Security, Deep sea Diver, on down to my last attempts at work of stocking shelves in a grocery store.

I CAN still groom myself, remember my name and that of my immediate family members names and some days I could absolutly get a great job ( and then lose it within a week or two).

From what I can gather because of the last line I wrote, I will not receive the disability I need. (total and permenant)

The money sounds nice, but I really need civilian healthcare where Dr.'s have more leeway to try something new to improve my life.

Thank you for reading , and I welcome all thoughts

    Frm. Marine SGT
