  1. I agree with all of you. You have to look after yourself. I had copies of all my records, organized by condition and literally was trying to force feed the paperwork to the doctor at the C&P exam. He took a quick look at couple of my MRI reports and that was it. I even asked after the exam was over and the staff said if he needed it he would have asked for it at the time. I also submitted a claim for my right knee and both shoulders. I asked the QTC rep if the doctor needed the medical records I had for those conditions as well and the QTC rep declined stating the doctor had what he needed. I went ahead and sent all the records anyway. The QTC rep said that they complete their report and then submit to the VA who finishes the claim and assigns the rating.
  2. So I just got off the phone with the QTC rep again who confirmed the VA "DID NOT" request a medical records review. This means that the doctor who completed my C&P exam didn't even have access to my medical records (3 large folders) and has not reviewed them. This was the reason that the QTC doctor requested copies of my MRI I reports I showed him during the exam to support his diagnosis. When I asked the rep why the doctor didn't want copies of the MRI reports for my torn rotator cuff's and labrum's in both of my shoulders, she indicated plain X-rays taken during my C&P exam provided enough supporting evidence necessary. Can't see how that's how that is possible. I am not feeling very confident in the VA at this point.
  3. Thank you all for the replies so far. Buck52: I did take my medical records (which are all organized by condition) to the C&P exam and offered up specific reports for the doctors review. He quickly glanced at a few and jotted down a few notes but mainly kept his head buried in his laptop filling out the questionnaire between examining me. As far as the VA case manager "reviewing the medical records", this info was passed by the QTC rep and I hope she didn't know what she was talking about. Berta: I completed all my QTC exams on FT Bragg, NC so my VARO would be in Winston Salem. Sorry for the confusion as I thought that my medical records were part of my C-file. I will check again with a QTC supervisor as well as drop a question on IRIS. I don't understand how the doctor can write a report for conditions I claimed without reviewing medical records. Does anyone know if there a requirement for the doctor completing the C&P exam to review the member's medical records? FYI, this is a BDD claim. I am on terminal leave now and will officially be retired on 01 NOV. I am just concerned about the cervical condition not being properly rated due to its severity.
  4. Hello All, Looking for guidance. I received a call today from QTC representative asking if I could provide copies of current MRI reports for a cervical condition that I have filed for. I told the rep that I had already provided my medical records to the VA and all of the MRI reports should be in the C file. I asked why they were needed and the QTC rep indicated the doctor who completed my C&P examination needed them to complete his report. I asked the QTC rep if the doctor had reviewed my C-file (since all of the information he would need to complete his report is in my medical records). The QTC rep stated the VA did not request a review of my medical records (whatever that means). She also indicated the doctor had not reviewed my medical records but a VA case manager would review my records when assigning a disability rating. The cervical condition I have filed for dates back to 1997 and I have received numerous medical treatments since that time. I have also filed for numerous other medical conditions which he barely touched on during my exam. How can the doctor provide a thorough report without reviewing my medical records (C-file)? Is the QTC doctor required to review my medical records prior to my C&P exam? My current plan is to scan and email the current reports that I have to the QTC rep but that wouldn't even scratch the surface. I would appreciate any advice you may have to offer. Thank you
  5. I appreciate your response. I do have an address in NC that I can uses as well as someone who can check the mail at that location. The only problem is that I did not get the impression the rep at MacDill wanted to help me since I was moving. She wouldnt even walk out to the waiting area at the clinic and instead chose just to talk on the phone on the other side of the door. Based on that I dont want to deal with her. Would you reccommend filing out the EZ claim myself and then taking all the files to the RO here in St Petersburg myself or mailing everything directly to the VA Intake Center in Newnan, GA? Thank you.
  6. Hello, Long time lurker, first time poster. Thank you to all who have provided info on this site as I have learned so much. I am looking for advice on where it would be the most beneficial for me to file a Benefits Delivery at Discharge VA claim. My info: - Active duty Coast Guard stationed in St Petersburg, FL. - 01 MAY 2015 - 180 day date to be able to file a Benefits Delivery at Discharge (BDD) claim. - 15 JULY 2015 - Start terminal leave / move back to NC (just outside of FT Bragg) - 01 NOV 2015 - ETS date. Signed 20 yr retirememt orders in hand. My intent was to file a BDD claim here in St Petersburg on 01 May (my 6 month date) but the VA Rep at the MacDill AFB clinic (who handles the BDD claims) said I should wait and file after I move back to North Carolina. Her reasoning was based on the fact that my C&P exams would all be scheduled here in FL after I start terminal leave and moved back to NC. The VA Rep also recommended filing via e-benefits. I dont plan to go this route as I have too many medical files to upload. I do feel confident in filing on my own and have copies of all medical records to provide to the VA regional office. I am requesting recommendations on whether to file here in St Petersburg (to get the ball rolling now) or in North Carolina during first week of August. Is there a way on the claim to request exams be scheduled in a different area based on a member moving. I just dont want to lose a month of processing time if I dont have to. Thank you in advance for your time.
