Leo's Achievements

  1. Early this year I wrote to this forum about my wife (Ret AF Officer) that was given 100% unemployable (back to Sep 04)by the VA in Nov 06. In April 2007 we filed for SSDI disability, in addition to the VA compensation rating letter, a Neuropsychological Testing Report, and a letter for her Psychiatrist (that has treated her for 3 years)we submit all the papers and signed the medical release papers. Last Friday (6 Jul 07) Social Security approved her SSDI back to Mar 2006. I truly believe that one of the reasons her request when through the first time was because of the letters and documents we submitted in April 07. These documents clearly described her disability and probably made the review process easier, when searching the medical records and documents. I realize it doesn't go this smoothly for alot of Vets, I just want to thank those that wrote gave suggestions and remarks. Your support and prayers where most helpful. Ret AF Couple Can anyone suggest a website or someone who is knowledge about doing Tax Amendments because of the change in my wifes SC rating going from 70% to 100% all the way back to Oct 2004? Thanks Again Leo & Awie
  2. No FERS My wife is regular retired. Thanks for you info.
  3. My spouse is rated Unemployable by the VA and rated Service Connected at 70%. She receives 100% SC disability. We are currently applying for SSD, my question is she entitled to receiving 100% SSD or will it be pro-rated because she is already receiving disability from the VA. She retired from the Air Force after serving served 30 years. So in addition to receiving VA disability she also receives her retirement pension. Leo
  4. My wife was granted entitlement by the VA for 100% effective Sept 4, 2004, because of her being unable to work due to her service connected disability/disabilities. Her overall or combined rating is 70%. She has been evaluated and diagnosis in 2005 by a Military Neuropsychologist and given a diagnosis of Cognitive Disorder, she is also 50% SC (VA) disable for Major Depressive disorder. She is currently being treated by a civilian psychiatrist who is treating her for the Cognitive disorder and Major Depressive disorder since 2005. I have a copy of the Neuropsychologist report, the VA’s rating letter stating she unable to work, and a letter from her psychiatrist that states “it is my psychiatric opinion that her impairments in memory, confusion, agitation and at times disorientation are rendering her unemployable and are not likely to improve in the foreseeable future”. We are getting ready to file for SSD (My wife is a 30 year retired USAF veteran who has worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes. We believe we have covered all her bases. Is there anything else that I might want to consider or add, besides hiring an attorney when her claim is denied? Post Script: She has not worked since she retired from the USAF in September 2004.
