  1. Ya no cataracts here but I feel for anyone who has to go through eye surgery. I tell people its like being abducted by aliens First you get medicated but your awake and you remember everything that happens but once they plop you in the wheelchair to be taken home you forget it all. Apparently on my 3rd and fourth eye surgery I had become so comfortable with it that I was cracking jokes with the doctors. I don't remember any of this but I hope it wasn't to embarrassing. Well perhaps that rating date is a hint that I needed. Thank you to everyone who talked to me about this. It is my first appeal and Ill be honest I was becoming impatient with the VA and I apologize for that.
  2. SMC remand is for S-1 which is from the eye surgeries. (they botched them which is why I filed for it) I appealed for TDIU prior to the eye surgeries and that was granted by the judge july 12th of this year. Those old effective dates are for when I was having eyes surgeries 4 in total. I now have to get 2 corneal transplants because they botched it. You can only do one corneal transplant at a time each with a 1.5 year recovery time That's why I filed for SMC which is currently in remand and it appears that with the new rating date it was possibly granted.
  3. Thank you for the fast letter Berta! I don't think the remand letter will be necessary and heres why. I applied for hardship using the Trump hotline talking about retropay and my remand. In the past I was receiving SMC S-1 pay during my many many eye surgeries. I was curious so I clicked on the benefits page on Ebenefits. I then clicked on my old SMC-S-1 tab to see a new effective rating date of 7/23/2018 Those tabs were from 2015-2016. I called the 1000 number confused and they told me its likely that the AMC is not only working on my retropay for IU but that the new rating date could be indicative of a new favorable rating for SMC S-1 and that everything still hasn't hit the system yet. I came here confused and worried about retropay for IU and it looks like the Trump hotline rushed my remand as well. If I am wrong in all this I would be so grateful for someone with more knowledge
  4. Probably the funniest detail I got from the Trump Hotline and my VSO is this "You could get paid tomorrow or up to 17 months when your remand should be finished. So check your bank account everyday" Checking my bank account everyday expecting the lottery for 17 months is a surefire way to turn anyone into a crazy person.
  5. Right but im not worried about the remand The remand has nothing to do with my TDIU which was granted. The remand has everything to do with the VA botching my eye surgery and blinding me. I just don't understand why they cant dole out tdiu which was granted and work the remand later. They make it sound like I have to wait for the remand to be completed before I can receive what was already granted
  6. Okay sorry guys I wasn't trying to be difficult or mouthy This is my first appeal and that money is sorely needed. Ill hurry up and wait Im not worried about the remand taking time I was just concerned about them doddling something the judge already granted
  7. I filed for TDIU back in july of 2014 and was denied I went through the entire Appeals process and was granted TDIU I also have on the appeal a REMAND for Special monthly compensation. The SMC stems from the VA doing botched eye surgery on me which has now effected my life forever (for the worst) The BVA has since sent both issues to the AMC. TDIU was granted SMC is on remand. TDIU was granted this year July 12th. I have already received my packet and the SMC remand has already received a C&P exam and given me a docket number in the 50k range The AMC has no call center and isn't under the jurisdiction of the BVA or pretty much anybody. It has been 12 days and I have received no retro pay they haven't updated anything in my records stating I have been granted the TDIU I have called the Trump hotline multiple times. I have contacted the BVA (don't bother), the RO (nope) and my VSO (trying to be helpful?). Basically from what ive ascertained from the 1000 number and the trump hotline is that the remand is holding my granted item hostage I could be looking at anywhere from 7-17 months for my remand to be finished. What I find most peculiar is that apparently they cannot pay my backpay on my GRANTED TDIU until my REMANDED SMC is finished. What is going on here? Who knows about this stuff? Why are they holding my backpay hostage? Why was the call center to the AMC dissolved? How is it possible for the AMC to hold my backpay hostage on a granted item due to a separate item being on remand im incredibly perplexed and honestly really pissed that I could be waiting a year and a half for backpay on something that was already granted
