Hello
I too am a 100% with a helpless child that receives both. The $86 your getting is not much but it is to help with that child's needs. SSA will deduct this and pay the difference for SSI. SSI is a needs based program and a max is set. Since the $86 is paid to you for your child it is counted as income against that child. Once you added a helpless person as your dependent your can't remove them (I submitted paperwork 6/4/2019 to remove my child because of the hassle, VA called me and explained this to me) unless you for go your complete award (per VA this conversation took place 7/2/19). The only way to get the letter you have to call VA and let them know you need a from them stating how much you get paid each month for the 2019 or the year SSA is asking for. FYI your going to need this letter very year they call you in to audit or question you about how much you receive from VA. They will not accept the pay scale from VA website (I tried that). I hope this answer your question.
