  1. I have medicare part A and B, Part B cost a little over $90.00 a month, I don't need a supplement for I have Tricare for Life and between the two I never pay for doctor visits or hospital stays. I do use the VA for most of my medications as they are free. I will not use the VA for anything major they scare the hell out of me. I've had 5 new doctors in 6 years and there is no way you can build up a trust in a doctor at the VA, they PCS more than I did in the military. Sgt D

  2. I downloaded all the forms filled them out and hand carried them to my local SSA office. The lady looked them over and asked why did I think I was disabled, I told her to look at my neck and face from the burns from radiation treatment, that still didn't impress her so I lifted my shirt and asked her if she could work with a feeding tube like mine. Needless to say I was approved in about 3 montha that was in 2001, In 2004 they tried to cut me off, I appealed and they sent me to there doctor guess they didn't know he was a former Army doctor who believed in taking care of veterans, they haven't cut me off yet and haven't messed with me since. 3. Just a short note to say I enjoy reading all your posts on here. I am a 60% Viet Nam Vet , I retired from the Army in 1990 and currently spend most of my time on the computer reading veteran related stuff. I suffer from cancer from agent orange and some days life sucks and then other days it's better. However each day I beat the odds is a day to be thankfull. If I miss spell words or ramble on then I must have just taken a pain pill. Sgt D :)

  4. I've been taking Oxycodone for about 5 years now and everytime I get a new doctor I have a problem with the new doctor, they can't seem to keep a doctor, in the 5 years I've had 5 doctors I'm on my 5th one now and I am having a problem getting a refill from him. I have lung cancer and the pain med is the only way I keep going. On my last appointment he said the Oxcodone didn't show up in my urine, well hell fire I have no salava glandes from them being burned out from radiation and I drink probably 2 1'/2 gallons of water a day, seems the water flushes my system out. Stupid VA Doctors where do they come from. SGT D

  5. I have a friend who is retired from the sea-bees. He has no sc disabilities, and he didn't sign up for va benefits in time to qualify for any va benefits.

I thought I read somewhere that someone in his position could still get eye exams and glasses from the va. Perhaps someone could tell me one way or the other.

    thanks kkp

OK here's the deal for retirees to get glasses, go to www.nostra.navy.mil and follow the instructions. You are authorized one pair a year from them.

Also to get glasses from the VA you have to have at least 10% disablity then you can get one pair per year, either go thru your primary care doctor or call the eye clinic direct to get an appointment that's what I did and had my appt within a week. Sgt D
