  1. That is true, BUT....Let us continue to take these baby steps...

    1. 60 Co-Sponsors before the 1st committee meeting is a good thing!

    2. 5 of the 12 committee members are already Co-Sponsors.

    3. Out of 59 Legislative Districts in all of Illinois, 16 of them

already have both Representatives that have Co-Sponsored this legislation.

    4. Public Act 95-644 (HB0644) passed 17 Oct 07, started as HB0664 and

had quite abit of ammendments movement / added and tossed

back and forth between the House & Senate before finally approved.

    5. The terminology of of Public Act 95-0644 Sec. 35 ILCS 200/15-169

new, still has burps in it.

    6. HB0273 is very specific and to the point, nobody can question what

exactly is being said or the intent of it.

All we can do is DRIVE ON and stand up for what is RIGHT for

    Illinois Disabled Veterans!!!!!

  2. Al,

I also faxed her last week and today at both her Faxes, I am positive

your Fax put her on our side. We need her, she is the only Veteran on

the Revenue & Finance Committee. I am also looking ahead and noticing

that we have close to 20 legislative districts that both Representatives

from that district have Co-Sponsored HB 0273. It may mean nothing, but

I look at historical trends, and we are doing things that have never been

achieved before. With that being said, I am going to go back to past

IGA legislation sessions and see which Senators have Co-Sponsored past

veteran legislation on this issue regardless it be HB's or SB's and what

    happened.

  3. Stand to be corrected.....

    As of 10 February 2009 at 1330 the HB0273 has the following;

A total of 56 Co-Sponsors, more than any other HB going in front of the

Revenue & Finance Committee Hearing on February 11, 2009 at 1000.

There are 5 members of the Revenue & Finance committee that

    have Co-Sponsored HB0273, they are;

    Linda Chapa LaVIA

    Bob Biggins ®

    Suzanne Bassi ®

    Careen M. Gordon (D)

    Ed Sullivan, Jr. ®

    HB0273 - MUST PREVAIL

PLEASE email & Fax all the Illinois Representatives that have not Co-Sponsored this

legislation. Better yet, send your personal story how it effects you or someone you

know. We are making baby steps, but it is better than the previous IGA crawl that

we have delt with in the last 4 years.

Al was right at the beginning when he mentioned the committee, but it was just the Democrats

that had been selected at that time. Now they balanced the committee with 5 Republicans.

  5. They just named the members for that 11 February 2009

Revenue & Finance committee, Now here is the questions....

First they have a total of 66 HB's to look at that day...Now

HB0273 has the most co-sponsors with over 46, the next

one even remotely close is HB0023 with 17. I am just wondering

how this works, I will be following it closely. I do know I

have personally emailed and Faxed everyone in this committee

for support. So far only Careen M. Gordon has responded

positively. Linda Chapa LaVia is a veteran and has co-sponsored

    past legislation on this issue.

    Keep Positive;

    Pete

  6. Al,

That database you provided fellow veterans is going to

save so much time. Hopefully it is used and abused for all

the right reasons. I see that they have set up a Feb 11

Revenue & Finance committee date at 10:00, If you go to

committees and click, they have 43 HB's to go over that

day, and NONE have the co-sponsors compared to HB0273,

Let us keep it going. I am going to see who else co-sponsors

before the end of the week before I send round two of

    my love letter emails.....

Round two will consist of those that have not co-sponsored,

and said they would on return emails, and past IGA co-sponsors

of the same HB in previous legislation.

    Pete

  7. ILLINOIS VETERANS LETS DO IT TOGETHER

WE ARE AT 39 CO-SPONSORS FOR HB0273. THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING

BUT A VERY GOOD BEGINNING, THE 96TH ILLINOIS GENERAL ASSEMBLY HOUSE IN NOW IN

SESSION....CONTACT YOU REPRESENATIVES AND SENATORS, MATTER FACT CONTACT ALL

OF THEM AND LET THEM KNOW, THAT WE KNOW, WHAT IS GOING ON...GET INVOLVED!!!!, THERE ARE ABOUT 870,000 VETERANS IN ILLINOIS. tHAT IS WHY MORE THAN 180 LAWMAKERS IN ILLINOIS THAT MAKE MANY DECISIONS THAT WILL EFFECT YOU.

CONTACT ALL 39 CO-SPONSORS OF HB0273 AND THANK THEM FOR ALL THE DISABLED VETERANS IN ILLINOIS PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE.

  8. Al,

Tried to send you an email, for some reason I cannot..

Question of the day???? The past IGA's (94th & 95th)

also had the exact same legislation as HB0273 (HB4197

in the 95th IGA) (HB4247 in the 94th IGA) and never got

passed the First Reading and ended up getting dropped at the

end of each session. What is your suggestion to overcome

this delemia, or to overcome it before it becomes

    stagnet. Pls Assist!!!!

    Thanxs

    Pete

  9. Al & Grace,

Stay on it....Go to the IGA website, we are at 14

co-sponsors, and by the names we are hearing from

in a positive note, more are to come. Al, You are

so right, it's a whole new game, and we must run with

    it.

    4 More C-Sponsors;

    Rep. l. Dugan. - 79th District

    Rep. M. Berrios - 39th District

    Rep. S. Feigenholtz - 12th District

Please call, write, fax, or email these Rep. and Thank

them for their support on HB0273, we need all the attention

that we can get. Let's get it going full speed....

    Take Care,

  10. Grace,

Great!!! You did the right thing....Once you see her as

a co-sponsor personally write her, and Thank her. I have

had a few that say they are going to but.....I'm waiting

until Feb 4. when they will be in Springfied.

Here is a Thank You letter I personally send to all that

are Cheif Co-Sponsors / Co- Sponsors.

Illinois Represenative ............; From ALL the Illinois Disabled Veterans & I thank

you for being a Co-Sponsor on legistation HB0273. It will

help equalize the injustice of benefits for Illinois Disabled

Veterans, in retrospect to other state benefits concerning

property tax and limited income disabled veterans.

    Sincerely, Joseph C. Peterson

  11. Grace,

I'm going to stay at this sub site for now...We have had 8875 hits so far, and to me it

is going to the veterans it effects the most; Illinois Veterans. Appriciate the insight, more

and more veterans are getting involved, and that is great. Word of mouth and newspapers

are another way, there are veterans everywhere or family members of veterans, and

family members of those currently serving. This HB0273 effects many people in Illinois, and

we need to start the snowball effect going down a mountain.

    Take Care,

    Pete

  12. Illinois Veteran who want to get involved....

I have many 2007-2008 Illinois / Handbook of

GOVERNMENT paperback books left that are

very informative. If you want one just sent a

message to me and I will get one out to you.

We must UNITE and FIGHT for what is RIGHT

when it comes to Illinois Disabled Veterans and

    HB0273.

To many other states already have some type

of this benefit for their disabled veterans, now

that Blago is gone and Quinn is in, we need to

step it up. I know that Quinn is proactive when

    it comes to veteran issues.

Samalw is a wiz on linking and inputted much

information that can be downloaded if need be.

Lets get involved and show Illinois what being

    a veteran is all about.

    Take Care,

    Putintime

  13. Al, Grace and all Illinois Veterans getting involved

We are going to see this through to the end one way or another....

I have emailed all Illinois Representatives / Senators, now I am going

for the newspapers opinion columns (most of them are free).

Al is the link man...I am sure if more veterans understood the process

they would be able to understand their Reps / Senators lingo. I am working

with some veterans organizations to get our fellow district Representatives

and Senators to talk at local organizations..ie..American Legion, Veteran

of Foreign Wars posts etc...Maybe this will help put a bug in their ear that

we are not only watching, but also listening what they have to say about

    veterans in their districts.

    Take Care

    Pete
