I just happened on this site as I have been trying to find info on Ft Clayton for an upcoming trip to Panama City. My deceased husband was stationed there from 11/1961-11/1963. He used to tell me ‘he walked guard duty on the canal.’ He also was a gunner on a mortar. By 2/73 he had died of brain cancer. Doc said initial tumor could have been caused by loud explosions near his head. Now I’m reading about the chemical weapons used, stored, and fired there at Clayton and wondering if he could have been exposed. Can you offer any directions or sites I should explore? Additionally is there anything left from this era at Ft. Clayton that would warrant a side trip/visit. Thank you
