  1. What doe's Tricare have anything to do with what treatment that we receilve at a VA facility?
  2. Sorry but the VA will not give you a sports knee brace here unless it is service connected nor will they provide eye glasses or dental unless it's SC no matter what your rating % is. So if you come bring a couple of extra braces with you. The Philippines is a beautiful place to live and I have to thankfull that I at least get my meds from the VA here. It would just be so nice if they would give us the same benefits that we earned as we do at any other VA facility.
  3. Just wanted to say thanks to all for the imput and I'm waiting on all my serivce records now and will let all know if I reopen. God Bless, David
  4. John, Thanks and manufacturers will not send to foriegn address and my FPO address is limited to 16 oz letters. Local mail is very unreliable and Fed Ex is to expensive.
  5. Yes Ricky they will supply test strips and lancets which is a great help if you have the matching meter to make them work.
  6. I live in the Philippines and use our VA clinic in Manila and yes we do have a US VA clinic in Manila for those that did not know. I am a 100% PNT vet and diabetic but not service connected for it and may or may not reopen my file to get it connected. The clinic here will give me all my meds even if there not service connected but not any prostecics to go with it. So they have denied giving me a Blood Glucose Meter for that reason. I have had two very low sugars since taking the insulin they have given me since I do not know my blood sugar levels when injecting the insulin and have only injected what was precribed by my primary care physican. My beef is that they say it is a local VA directive that they go by here and use local contractors to give them the meters. I don't understand why I could allways get a meter in the States and not here. I have been told by them to go out and by one on the local economy which is about tripple what they cost in the States. Help In the PI David
  7. I have been 100% since 1998 and held PNT status since 2001. I took early seperation from the Navy in 1992 and was put into the inactive reserves for two additional years for a total of 16 yrs. I am 100% for Bipolar-Disorder type 2 and have been in VA treatment and civilan since my discharge to present. In 1995 I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and am now on insulin. I was a Mess Specialist First Class in the Navy and naturally being a cook over weight. I know my sugar levels were high then and cannot find my Navy Medical record to verify that. According to the ADA (American Diabetes Asocciation) my job and Being on the Medicine that they were treating me for depression contributed to early onset diabetes. Should I re-open my file to request service connection for my Diabetes???????????? ;)
  8. I was awarded VA 100% in 1998 and SSI at the same time and in 2001 received PNT status from the VA. I Just received my third review letter from SSA and in the 2 year period in question I tried to back to work and did so for 2 1/2 months until I was fired. My service connected disabilty of Bi-Polar really was in full manic phase there and I went against all my doctors warnings that I could not work. What I am asking is on that form they send you it asks have you worked in the last 2 years and I had to check the block yes and the amount was above the poverty level am I covered under there nine month back to work trial?
