Thank you so much, she did email my letter and my smc a&a was granted. Wondering how long this process will take, as she stated the appeal goes back to Region

A and A should be compensated as SMC L (unless a higher level of A and A was granted). Further, your effective date SHOULD be the date the doc said you first became eligible for A and A, and not the date you apply. This is because SMC is inferred, and you should get it from the date the doc said.
Now, "if" the doc does not give a date "symptoms first began", then you may need an IMO or other doctors opinion who reads your file and says, "Gee those symptoms did not start July 2024, (date of exam), but instead the record shows the Veteran had experienced these symptoms on an exam dated 11-13-2002.
This would mean a difference of tens of thousands of dollars (maybe even hundreds of thousands), so dont just let it go if the effective date is wrong. ALL of my effective dates were wrong, and I appealed them all and eventually won.
