I don't understand retro part?
Letter says I get 100% from Sept 94 to Dec 94, nothing changes after Dec 1994, I remain at 30%.
VSO doesn't explain anything.

Can you provide steps to see letter generator, I can't find that option when I log in.

What does Tsgli stand for?

What was the outcome?

Can you break down the timeline again?
Date Notified
Date of Retro
I won't go into a lot of details (unless someone replies w/specific questions) since I've told my story numerous times on here in different forums. I did want to say though that it took two weeks exactly from the day the decision was made at the rating stage for money to show in my account. My retro apparently required two signatures so it took a few days longer to deposit.
My family has struggled financially since I haven't worked full-time since 2006. We were always a two-income family. So, I can say we will be very careful how we use this lump sum. So far, my young son is thrilled that we have an appointment w/a orthodontist for braces. He's only 10 and already self concious about his teeth. I'm happy we're able to do this for him. My parents did it for me when I was young.
Funny story: when I first started my job in the Air Force I wasn't acclimated to the San Antonio heat and not drinking nearly enough water. Well, I worked outside on a shooting range and passed out and hit the concrete firing line platform without even putting my hands out to break my fall. I was fine after a few IV's, just embarrased and learned a big lesson. When I called home and told my dad about this the first thing he said was "God, i hope you didn't knock any teeth out, i invested a lot in those".
I've said it before but I am truly grateful for this site and the people here. You have kept me sane and my anxiety in check while waiting the outcome of my claim. I've missed the friendships I had while I was active duty and being on here has filled that gap in my life.

I didn't ask for anything specifically, other than the Convalescent rating.
I have a appeal for a higher rating up from 30%, It's a vision claim and my eyes seem to constantly be getting worst
-
I was told on Oct 5, 2011 after 2 years that I got my 100% for Sept 1, 1994 to Dec 1, 1994.
3 months
VSO also said I should get retro, what retro?
I am only due 3 months right?
-
Correct you have to be medically required to wear contacts. In some cases they have to contract out with a civliian doctor becuase the military just doesn't have the staff any more. I do have Keratoconus.
-
Well I finnally got an answer Oct 5, 2011, 3 months 100% Convalescent ratings for surgery in 1994, I filed for it in 2009, so two years wait.
VSO says plus retro, retro for what?
-
I still don't get it.
Go slow I am a veteran :)
I get 3 months at 100% (Understand)
I get what from 2009 ? ($1.00 x 24 months) = $24.00 ?
insert a different figure for the $1.00 if necessary.
CONGRATS!!! from my understanding you'll receive retro back to 2009 :) I believe it goes from the time you filed your case.
-
Finally got 100% Convalescent ratings for 3 months, they said plus retro, I don't understand the retro part. I filed in 2009. Can someone explain. Convalescent goes all the way back to 1994.

How long did the appeal take to get to Travel Board, What is a normal time frame?
-
It's been a year now. Got a letter stating that VA is still processing claim. Trying to get 100% for surgery I had on my eye. Sent all medical info in, 13 pages.
Awesome still waiting mine -
Has anyone used the Veteran Vision Equity Act of 2007 in obtaining a higher rating, I have one on appeal for Keratoconus and curious how V.A. is handling the information.
-
Eric,
As a licensed Optician, I highly recommend you attend
any low vision clinic offered. They will usually provide
you with the most technically up to date tools available
along with any therapy suggested for your visual needs.
Good luck to you.
carlie
I have Keratoconus disabled @30% also being referred to low vision therapy in California. Medically required to wear contacts without them i can't see, vision changes often, never get correct fit.

Still waiting since Nov 8, 2008, on my 100% temp claim. Sent everything in, hope yours doesn't take as long.

Jim told me I wouldn't win my case and I won. He is not an authority. He should have told me there is a good chance that I might win but an even greater chance I might lose. I thank him for his opionion because it caused me to fight harder, and still harder I fight.
-
Thanks fo rth eupdate, I actually ment 100%.
-
May I ask what is your condition. I have Keratoconus and had surgery, I put in the paper work back in Nov for 1000 % temp, still waiting for a decision.

Not an expert of course and was asking for more help.
I filed and it was turned down then someone else read it and I was granted, still fighting. If I were you, I would have appeal or file again, rule says if you develop it while in service and continues to bother you with medical documentation you have a case and if you are medically required to wear contacts and I am, it's 30%, my vision is getting worst. trying to find out how to get a higher rating. Hope that helps.
