  1. Hi its been a long time for me. I am rated 100% P&T schizophrenia United States Marine Corps. I want to thank all the Veterans who have helped me through the years and been supportive with dealing with VA and also the handling of my claim to the conclusion of a 100% award. I have since, been graduated from two VA programs. One is outpatient living and the other is work therapy. My concern now is I don't have any trust in hospital care from VA. I bring this up because I want to know if other veterans had experiences like this? Triage didn't answer my call quick enough to cure strep throat that I had just gotten a month ago and triage is emergency????? It took Triage five hours later to call me back and by that time my strep had already gotten so severe I couldn't even swallow it hurt so much. What is their problem? I literally felt like I was being left out to die with no help. Luckily , I got the help I needed unfortunately again it wasn't VA. So this raises eyebrows is VA too incompetent enough to be treating veterans? I ask this because all I see when "googling" VA hospital care is a lot of videos and articles on how bad the care is to the veteran. I have to be honest I am not the same I am actually pretty frustrated over my care and even scared after my experience. If left untreated strep throat creates complications that can be fatal. So I ask what can I do?
  2. Hi does anyone know when the exact date is that VA compensation pays for the month of august 2011? Just wondering because the 1st of Aug falls on a monday.
  3. What a bummer it is for me then thanks for your response . That answered my question.
  4. By the way Pete I am 100 p and T not 100 percent if that matters at all.
  5. Pete I thank you for your response. I think the only way i can really work is through a Voc rehab agency or compensated work therapy that the VA provides?
  6. Hello again veterans. I know this question has been asked before but I am rated 100 percent with p and t status. I just wanted to know if I can work "marginal employment" and not be reduced at all. As a side note I have ptsd a mental condition and not a physical condition. So i want to know if it would be alright to work only "marginal employment" below the poverty line without being reduced.
  7. Your Y hyou Your right you can get it through that way also too actually.
  8. Hula matt yes you can I have schizophrenia and am service connected. As you know though you only may be service connected only if there is record of being seen by a doctor or someone while in service. I would check out a va doctor to diagnose you as that and to check out on the c-file too.
  9. no thanks dude lets just let it go please I dont want to make an enemy out of a fellow veteran . All I asked was a simple question were very few in this country as is lets not make enemies out of each other . Peace!
  10. its alright Testvet im not here to flame .Just a simple question .
  11. im not your dog and your like a little child . adios dickwad.
  12. I'm no way advocating for everyone to drop ship and enter into poker gambling, stocks, real estate, what have you all im asking is what is considered earned and unearned income? how is that distasteful?
  13. I I know you put not to sound rude but you really do sound rude. Sorry windy cindy if you disagree but dont put a story out there "that thousands of Vets story battle and struggle......" I literally was one of them then accusing me of not being really sick!!? wtf kind of person. You are no way a doctor and i will put up my doctors up against you anyday of the week. The sad thing about it is they are VA doctors so good luck with that one. Then you say something about tastefulness of my topic all I asked was a question? if i hadn't the heart I wouldn't have asked to my fellow vets on hadit. How stupid are you? so i guess if i win the powerball i should be ashamed for playing it or any other vet on disabilities?Since by playing it im not really sick at all by your logic.
  14. Naw im no way addicted like i said earlier i put fifty bucks in on a fifty cent dollar table and moved up limits thats all.
  15. Brb bronco vet I know what you are saying and I'm just saying mental illness gets a bad rap these days from stupid scientologists to world famous actors saying theres no such thing as mental illness. Thanks so much for your input.
  16. They are fine they know poker is a skill game . I already told them. There are plenty of pro poker players in the city where I'm at that can attest to that and will stand behind me if need be.
  17. I know test vet I started my bankroll not from VA compensation money or ssdi . I actually started at a micro limit of 50 cents to one dollar. Its hard to explain but when you do well you move up limits as your bankroll gets bigger from beating other players. I think it would matter still Id still like to recieve VA compensation and ssdi if Im on the world poker tour. How wonderful would that be .
  18. thanks USMC, I'm actually not fighting it to be "earned income" for then my Va compensation and ssdi would be at risk of me losing them. All poker is right now to me is therapy and purpose and also sense of direction in life. "IF your good looking people are nice to you, if your good at something people obey you".
  19. I play on Full Tilt poker and its online. I want to play at 30/60 limit holdem but i want my Va benefits and ssdi. So far im at 5/10 and it wont be too long till I beat that limit. If VA benefits and ssdi are not affected at a ll by "unearned income" then should I file my irs as amateur and not a professional poker player so it remains "unearned income"?
  20. Should I file as an amateur and not a professional if and when I do have that oppurtunity? I heard if you file as a "amateur" it is "unearned income" and when you file as a professional it is "earned income".
  21. Greetings Vets, Well I'm a happy man Im 100 percent p and t and I also have SSDI. My question is now that I have been playing poker and don't want my benefits to be affected. Poker is therapy for me and gives me purpose . I read an article that Billy Baxtor professional poker player went to a high court and made Poker "earned income" to IRS. If that is so will the VA and SSA consider playing poker a job? Please help I dont want to quit on my dream of playing poker ,but I dont want to lose the source of income I have which is Va compensation and ssdi benefits.
  22. josephine yes i did have a c and p exam and the letter states " theres a definitive finding of incompetency by a physician in this case". Yes I had charge cards and they are all done and paid i no longer have them activated. I do not know if the doc said in the c and p exam if I was competent enough to handle my own funds. It was headlined compentency to handle funds but that is it. I t came in a packet format. What do i do will i have money withheld from me I am in hardship. The reason the VARO thinks im incompetent is that I have a SSDI payee for the time being until I can prove to the pyschiatric program im enrolled with that I can pay my rent. then they will get me a doc to state I no longer am in need of a payee but SSA never said I was incompetent at all.
