  1. I started getting Gout symptoms while in the USAF. It's documented in my SMR. I still have symptoms from time to time. Is there a SC rating for Gout?
  2. Disabled, including DVs and seniors that like to camp on Forest Service lands are about to get screwed if this proposed directive goes through. I've already sent my comments to the Forest Service. Time is running out. Monday, 1 Feb. 2010 is the last day to submit. It's time to "Kick Ass and Take Names"! Don't let money grubbing concessionaires dictate access to lands we swore to defend and pay taxes on. Contact your lawmakers, as well.
  3. I've been camping in the NF and NP system for years. The free park access and 50% camping discount for disabled vets is a blessing. I wouldn't be able to do it otherwise. To have a profiteering concessionaire determine that I can't have this discount and will also charge me higher fees to use the land I've sworn to protect and paid taxes for, hits me right in the gut. I'll be writing my lawmakers and contacting the NF to express my concern. I hope you will too.
  4. The Forest Service is proposing to reduce the discount provided to seniors and disabled citizens from 50% to 10% at Nat'l Park and Forest Campgrounds. Go to this site and submit your comment. You may also contact your Fed and State elected officials and let them know your opinion of this proposed change. Here is the link to the official notice. http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2009/E9-28744.htm There is a direct link to the comment page in the document. Or use this link: http://www.regulations.gov/search/Regs/hom...900006480a60f36 Added comment: If a campground fee is $16, with 50% discount, we would pay $8 as it is now. But if it goes to 10%, we would only get $1.60 off or we would have to pay $14.40. That is an 80% increase in FEES!!
  5. I'll have to catch it when it comes out on DVD. My sorry cable provider recently pulled the History Channel, American Movie Channel, local news channels and my kid's Cartoon Network from their basic service. I have to pay extra now. But on the bright side, I can buy from the shoppers channel, watch kick boxing and golf all day long, view Spanish language movies, and learn how to decorate a house or cook something.
  6. I have the Golden Access pass and it saves me hundreds of dollars every year on access and camping fees.
