  1. I recently posted about a 2nd C&P exam that I had scheduled. Having no idea what I should do I read the reports on here and decided to just be truthful and not to try to make my case look worse than it was. I spent 2+ hrs with the shrink and in fact candycoated some responses.

My appt. was on Sept 14th, now Saturday Oct. 3rd I got the yellow envelope. Approved at 10%, but not for the PTSD that I requested but for "adjustment disorder with depressed mood".

Don't understand that but I have other issues that arose from the accident in service that are now being looked at. Thanks to the advice that was given to other persons on the board I feel a little better.

Really don't understand how everything went so fast but I am not complaining, I have other complaints that have been on apeal for 5 years.

Thanks gang keep up the good work, great advice.

  2. The scar was rated sc but I never looked for any treatment after leaving the service. Alcohol became my best friend and took care of all of my problems. SMRs do reflect some changes in behavior but the Dr. wasn't in any mood to listen to anything related to that.

My work record is the bad part after the service, and my treatment of females. Two areas that I am ashamed of but can't be changed. My present wife #4 understands me and helps me through the rough times when I start to revert to the old me. I am retired so I don't spend a lot of time around other people so therefore I keep things on an even keel. Just waiting now and hoping for a good outcome, thanks everyone.

    I will keep you posted.

  3. The appt went well with the exception of being there 8 hours due to some mixup, someone had cancelled the appt and didn't advise me.

Got thru it all, shrink didn't really want to know anything that would be useful concerning the accident or stressors. Tried to focus on grade school life/family life as a child. I did hold my temper and was polite, next time could have a very different outcome. Have 3 other appts today ( other complaints ) and will pick up copies while there, office was closed when I finished.

I will post what I find from C&P appt when I get my copy.

  4. Got my 2nd C&P exam tomorrow for PTSD. Never diagnosed before, have 0% sc for hearing loss and 0% for scar from accident in 1967 also sc. Just hope all goes well, have had many issues that were doccumented on discharge papers but were just passed over when I was discharged. Took me til now to file claim so that may be an issue. Accident was not in combat so I may be in for a long hard road.

  5. Thanks everyone, have never been diagnosed and never treated for PTSD. The only thing that may help is the complaints made at time of discharge which were (passed over) never checked just told me to have a good day. Did have talk with shrink at that time and he reported " not suitable for further military service" . Accident and all complaints were noted on final paperwork.

If the accident and treatment for med attention is documented in your SMRs and has caused a continuous disability -they should have no problem SCing it- then again the VA might look for post service causes for the disability you are claiming due to the accident.

Best to get copy of that C & P exam when it is typed up to be able to anticipate their decision.

Have you been formally diagnosed with PTSD yet? I assume VA has all your PTSD treatment records?
