  1. I think 30% cause they like to low ball! Then appeal then they will probably go to 50% with validated medical/psychological documentation.

did you appeal ? I just hate it when you got all the facts like the dr. and meds, and the stressors, oh well I really thank you for your info and will let you know okay?-Bill

  2. You can find the entire blank C & P worksheet for the PTSD exam here by using our search feature.

Unless you have combat awards on your DD214 (CAR,CIB or PH) they need a proven inservice stressor for the etiology (cause) of the PTSD.

The meds dont really indicate the level of PTSD or even support the diagnosis. My husband at 30 % PTSD from 1983 to 1991,then at 100% PTSD from 1991 was only started on meds for PTSD a few months prior to his death from AO.

Ironically the VA even tried to reduce him to 10% in 1988 at the same time they began the malpractice that also caused his AO death.

As the VCAA letter you received stated (if it was a legal VCAA letter) they need proof of the inservice cause of your PTSD. Have you been able to supply them with enough evidence of that?

My point here is that meds alone do not rule in or out PTSD nor do the meds indicate the disabling level of the PTSD.

PTSD claims require a proven stressor that occurred in service. And a PTSD diagnosis due to the stressor.

Berta- where do you find the PTSD worksheet and what is AO ? that caused his death ? Thanks so much for your information I am a nurse and yes I am on meds for PTSD, and seeing a Psychiatrist,MD for this and I was sexually Traumatized in Basic training at FT knox, KY. 3 times by the same fellow and it was horrible, and all i did at that time was keep my mouth shut, because he told me he would leave me alone it was a black man that did this to me.

  3. Hi all,

I really need advice and help. I have not worked since 3/2/09 due to workers comp for shoulder injury, just had surgery will be out until June 10. In april 09, I was placed on Morphine for neck pain, and have been on since. In early Nov. my dose was increased to 45mg three times daily. Now, my question I work as a registered nurse and to do so under the influence of a narcotic violates state regulated guidelines for RN's. I am not a good candidate for surgery and cannot function without the pain meds. Is this something that qualifies for a TDIU claim.

    Thank you,

    Bergie

Bergie,I am a Nurse as well, and you know that you have to let the board of nursing know, and your employer know you are on that much morphine, you might cosider getting help to get off the morphine. I did !! and yes you can qualify for your claim just file it with a clear mind okay ? Bill

  4. Can some one really help me down the path I started with filing a paper claim form, with the DAV in san diego, but I live in the area of palm springs, and have not heard nothing from the dav for at least 4 months.

  5. Hello to all. I have a question. I just got a letter in the mail from the VA saying I was going to be scheduled for a C&P exam for my SC disability (ptsd). This will be a exam to re evaluate my current level of disability. I am currently 70% ptsd, 10% tennitus, 10% hand. I received my initial rating for ptsd in sep 06. What is this about?

I filed a claim for GERD and was denied, the mailbox had both denial letter and ptsd re exam. Does this happen to anyone else?

Iam on a whole lot of meds...trazadone, lorazapan, quietpine, sertaline, prozasin...any help or suggestions will help my anxiety levels

Quicksting, what was wrong with your hand? I have severe neuropathy and had the EMG/NCV test done and they found that my right hand was profusely severely damafed. Bill

  6. ;) Aftering receiving letter from VA stating they have all information from me in reference to my claim for disabiity (Sept 1, 2009)and they will contact me if they need more information, there is no need to contact them. Will I have to have a exam from VA and how long does it take for them to contact you for this exam. (Gave them copies of all medical records (VA claims they can not find my medical record from the VA hospital I attended after leaving the service in 1969) This record has lots of my medical information in it and it will be very helpful to use in my filing. Hospital closed in early 90's.(VA medical center in Baltmore, MD--33rd street) If anyone knows how to go about retreiving this medical record, please let me know. I have tried the Perry point location in Perry point, maryland and the Greene Street location in Baltimore, Maryland and those lazy folks can not give me an answer.
e-mail www.iris.gov and ask the question or call 1-800 827-1000 and wait till it ask about disability programs which i think is #3 push that and wait till the end and talk to a va rep!-

  7. Ok,I went to my C&P today. I checked in 30 minutes early as stated on the letter, which I got in the mail yesterday. Surprisingly enough, I felt it went ok. The examiner had my C&P examine from Sep 06 and was briefly using it as,"does this still happen or bother you" type questions. I asked her why I had to have another exam so fast (2 yrs exactly). she gave me the VA story line....about how the va wants to ensure I was rated correctly and if my SC got worse, better or stayed the same. I also had a letter from my supervisor that I gave her (the examiner). She was nice and polite, but wanted to talk about things that were really difficult for me to talk about. It almost reminded me of the C&P last month I had, except it turned out bad. I got my denial letter in the mail the same day I got my New Re exam c&p. I did however tell her that my stomach was bothering...hitting on the last c&p I had. (Gerd), wastold by the VA raters that my problem was not chronic, however I have been on meds and was sent for an endoscopy, which revealed GERD, hernia, and an ulcer. Sorry got of on a tangent. I was told by the examiner that I would be getting a letter from the va in a month regarding this C&P. She did ask me if I thought I was doing about the same , worse or better over the past 2 years. I replied" I feel like some things are much worse, other than that it is about the same. If anyone has a PTSD C&P exam comingup, I will be glad to give you some info on questions that were asked. I had all my meds with me also. Trazadone, lorazapam, quietapine, sertraline, prozasin. I am so glad it is over for now. I think I was having a panic attack while in the exam.

Has anyone ever had to do a re exam before, and what and how long did it take to know anything??

I am getting ready for a c&p exam so can you help me with what they ask you the first time I am on just 2 meds from my Pschyrisist, so I do not know if that is enough or not let me know okay-

  9. Correct me if I am wrong, and I know you will!!

I was told over the phone that because of my 100% rating, that my

I also found that claiming CRSC is an advantage because it is not taxed

  10. I just sent in a letter from my Pchychatrist, stating that I have been sexually traumatized in basic training in Ft. Knox, and my mosr recent GAF score is 45, and he has placed me on medication for it and I would like to know my possible disability rating they will come back with, I filed it with the DAV in san diego, and I am still seeing my Dr. at Loma Linda along with a LCSW for 1 on 1 sessions, and she stated my prognosis is very poor, and I am unemployable due to my social security rater, he placed me on total disability but I do not know about the VA can anyone help me or let me know what to do or think will happen?

    Thanks, Bill
