My brother-n-law served in the military and was discharged in the 80's. My question is he recently filed claims and he want to know if he is awarded 100% will his spouse and children be able to seek medical care at a VA hospital and if so will they be covered for free?

If this will help, my exam was completed at the axctuall VA hospital in Kansas City, Missouri back in June 2010. I still don't know what the hold up is.

Good Morning,
As I do on a weekly basis I call the #800 to see what stage my original claim is located, ie, Rating Board. They told me it arrived at the rating board on 21 Dec 2010 and on average it is 16-27 once the rater receives it. My question is, I have also been requesting a copy of my C&P exam results since August and each week I get a diffrent answer. This morning they told me it will be sent out AFTER the rater makes his/her decision, the reason being if they need evidence it is readily available, is this true? That sounds like a crock of crap however I don't know what to beleive. I retired in Oct 2010 and I have not signed up for VA health because I have yet to be rated, I live in the Columbus, GA area. This is my original claim...

I was contacted by V.A. yesterday and they told me my claim was sent over to the Rating Board on 21 Dec 2010. This is my initial claim since retireing on 310 Oct 2010, I claimed 33 ailments. My question is what is the normal time length that my claim will stay at the rating board (how soon will I get an answer)?

If I Claim an ailment such as Lower Back Pain do to Herniated and Bulging Disks, however I fail to mention bulging disk in my initial claim but doing the C&P exam the doctor asked why I claimed such ailments (lower back pain)I tell him the reason. My question is, if I have doctors records and notes stating that I had a disectomy doing my service in the military, is this a valid claim?

An important claim that I forgot to mention was Depression, do to my lower Back pain and my other ailments I find myself crying alot. Before my back problems started I use to be a Youth League Soccer coach and Youth Mentor. Because I can no longer do the normal day to day activites with my children I feel lost. I spoke to V.A. this morning and they told me they have concluded that they have all documents and that they are sending it over to the rater within the next couple of weeks. The also told gave me an inquirary number and told me to that I wilbe receivng a call within 10 days. prior to me filing my claim, I only saw a pyschiatrist once and he did not prescribe any meds, However when I was seen by the VA pychiatrist she told me that I was clearly clinicaly depressed and that she could not figure out why my civilian doctor did not prescribe meds. I had my co-worker and supervisor write statements stating that they use to assist me with putting on my boots and jacket, my wife also wrote a statement stating that our lives have changed signifcantly do to these issues. I cannot see or contemplate when someone tell me I have enough evidence yet the VA will probably give you a 0% rating. If the VA system is this broken then we need to fix it.

All Claims have been service connected, the lower back pain is do to surgery (Disectomy) 3 levels. I have not received any rating for any claim, my total claims listed came out to be 33. Once I receved my letter from the VA stating they received my claims, yes they were all listed. I know many such as the knee pain do to my back pain will probably be rated at 0%. The Back Surgery was for 3 level degenerative bone disease and Osterithis caused by Airborne. The medication that I currently take (Exalgo) is a Hydramorphine and once taken I cannot function. What I wanted to do was claim all ailments from when I went on Sick Call over for the past 20yrs. Many ailments no longer bother me however I wanted to ensure as I get older I am sure they will begin to affect me. Will this be from old age or from serving in the military? I came in the military perfectly healthy and I want to be compensated for what ailments that occurred while serving. The 17 issues listed below are 17 of 33, digging out my VA letter and trying to remember all ailments is a little donting at times. I have had Polyps removed from my Colon and Stomach. I have acid reflux caused by Polyps in the stomach. As stated earlier, I wear two hearing aides, I have had Eye surgery several times do to a growth growing in the inside of my eye lid causing blurred vision. I wear a back brace and corrective lenses (glasses). I will file a NOD and a TDIU as soon as get my rating back if it is less than 100%. I am not trying to claim false ailments, I am claiming what is really wrong with me.

I retired from the Army on 31 Oct 2010 and I completed my C&P exam back in July. I know they just started working on my claim on 01 Nov however my question is how long does it usually take to get a rating. I filed more than 30 claims so I know the time may be a bit longer than normal.

I am a little confused as to the pay of the VA. If I am rewarded anything from the VA, will it affect my retriement (military) check. I was told that if I am awarded less than 50% it will be deducted from my military retirment check however if I am awarded over 50% i would get the money directly.
Soorry if this subject already exist...

I am retiring from the Army with 20yrs and not because of my Back. The doctors recommendation is or was the 3rd opinion and I am at the point where I cannot hardly walk on certain days. I am seeing a pain management specialist and I am currently taking a new and just approved earlier this year drug called EXALGO (morphine), I also take Nuvigil to counter the Exalgo every morning. Once I retire on 31 Oct I will be completly retired from the Army, I started terminal leave on 14 July. If having the surgery will bring me a 20 -50 % better life I will do it. Once I have the surgery and file 100%, how long does it normally take for VA to start paying. If I don't elect to have the surgery and I feel I am unable to work, I plan to have my doctor write a statment saying VET is unable to work.

My doctor (military) recommended that I undergo a 3 or 4 level fusion, that was six months ago. I will be retiring in 2 weeks and my question is , once I retire and I undergo this surgery, the recovery time for this is any where between 12-24 months. Can I file for 100% during my recovery time if I am not working, also when should I file and after filing about how soon will I start receiving payments?
Thanks

They will probably be added to your list of ailments but as non-service connected (NSC) and therefore no added compensation. You would need to service connect (SC) them to be compensated.

Will I be compensated for an aliment that was discovered during the C & P exam i,e. hemmoroids and planters warts? Both were added during the C&P exam.
Thanks

My last two years in the Army has been a total disaster. I had a Chain of Command that was somewhat understandable, I would be on quarters 1-2 weeks per month for the past two years. Becasue of the medication and the Pain in my body, I would not be able to hardly think let alone drive myself to work. I forgot to mention, I also claimed Insomnia. I take Lunesta (sleeping pills) I cannot sleep no more than two hours per night. I normally go to bed at 10pm and would be up at 1:30am. Miserable life indeed.

I cannot afford to FEDEX it, I think my best option is to hope and pray VA do the right thing once they receive my FAX. Can you please give me an estimate of what you think I will receive as for as Compensation.
1. GERD (polyps removed from stomach) I take Nexium.
2. ED (Cialis)
3. OAB (over active bladder) take Vesicare
4. Hemmorroids
5. Enlarge Prostate (polyps removed)
6. Skin disorder (feet and face)
7. Testalgia (must receive shots in testicles once every three months)
8. SCARS from surgery
9. Lower Back (bulging disks at 3 levels, disectomy) (I take Exalgo)
10. Hips (do to back problems) take Pennsaid)
11. Knees (do to back) take pennsaid
12. Osteoritis (of all joints) diagnosed by a doctor
13. Sleep Apnea w/ CPAP (diagnosed)
14. Depression (do to pain)
15. I wear a Back Brace and tens Unit.
I take a regiment of pills including EXALGO which is a Morphine pill. I cannot work once I fully retire because of the pain. If I don't receive 100% I will immediatly file for IU. Are there any steps I should take now before I fully retire on 31 OCT 2010? All claims have been service connected and documented.

Forgive me if this is a repeat question. I am on retirement leave from the Army and I underwent my C and P exam in July, however I recently received additional info to be added to my records prior to me receiving a rating. My actual retirement date is 31 Oct 2010 and I was told by VA (someone over the 800#) the best way to add info to my packet was to fax it. I do not have a VA laison per say because I moved from MO to GA since my retirement. I faxed all additional info to the place they (VA rep) told me to fax too, is this proper proceedure?

Good Morning,
Question,
I am currently on terminal/ Retirement leave from 14 July - 31 Oct 2010, I have completed all C&P exams. I recently received additional records that will be crucial in the rating board descision, I sent these records to my VA rep however when I contacted the 800# they told me my C&P exam records were at the regional office waiting to be sent to the board after my actual retirement date and the records I sent to my VA rep was not there. I was also told my VA rep did not send my records and that I needed to fax them straight to the regional office before my retirement date.
1. Where do I send my additional records?
2. Now that my exam is complete, when will I recieve my letter stating what percent disability I am entitled too?
3. I wear a Tens Unit and a Back Brace which was prescribed by a Pain Management doctor however it is not stated in my records. I was told by my VA rep to print a copy of my Tri-care claim where Tri-care Paid for the items and they would be included/ show evidence in my claims process. Is this correct?
4. I had a sleep study test and was diagonosed with Sleep Apnea, I have the CPAP machine, upon reading the diagnoses it also stated that I showed evidence of Norcolepsy and Restless Leg Syndrome. Can I be compensated for the two/ Latter?
Thanks for the Help,
GOD Speed and Keep Up the Fire...

I have completed all transition breifings at this time. I do have a rep for the moment however I am moving to Georgia in 3 days, I will locate a rep as soon as I hit the ground. I spoke to the VAMC in KS where the exam took place, the records office told to me bring a copy of my civilian records that I wanted to add and they would add them for me she told me to this within the next couple of days. She also stated that my C&P exam has not been written up yet. Did she give me the correct info or was she pulling my leg?
thanks
-
It pays to get copies of all of the C & P exams -sounds like you got many all together ???
Ask the VAMC where the exams occurred for copies of the results.
This will give you some idea of where you stand.
Do you have a vet rep or service officer helping you?
Do you have copy of ll of your inservice medical records yet?
Have you had any transition briefings yet?
As a Retiree have you been informed yet of CRDP and CRSC?
Maybe it is too soon for your transition briefings but they can be very helpful for new retirees.

I hope this is not a repeat question, I am wondering if I am the only person having trouble registering in e-Benifits. I have been trying now for about three weeks however I keep getting the "Website is down message". I have contacted the site administrator and they keep telling me it is My computer. Is anyone else having this problem?
