my co were i was stationed has sent me a statment proving i was in the company at the time of the stressor but he stated because it was so long ago he could not put me on the said detail that i witnessed i have spoken with the ncoic of the detail an sent pictures to him also but at this time he states he was there but can not remember me at this time my co has stated that the svc man was severily injured an was med. dischared from svc.

Your unit might well have a web site- and maybe you could find another buddy there-

often units have reunions too and this is another way to find a buddy-

Any incident for depression, anxiety or PTSD claim must have a proven nexus to something in service that a doctor can say was more than likely the cause of the disability-

I don't know what you mean about the svc man but have you tried to reach him?

Was there a company corpsman who you could possibly find?

I recall you also mentioned bi polar condition?

The VA only pays comp for one type of mental disorder-

Is there documentation at all in your SMCs of the bi polar condition?

If so, there could be potential to have this service connected instead of PTSD.

PTSD will need confirmed stressor- bi polar will need inservice evidence of bi polar depression or mainc symptoms-

dont know if you read one of my replies to you- as to a friend I have with bi polar disorder--

who was thrown into the brig because he woke up one day and started thinking he was an admiral and started shouting orders to everyone aboard ship-

we were able to prove (and his VA shrink was very supportive on this)that this was the first manifestation of his bi polar disorder.

It took 12 years but BVA awarded him 100% P & T for service connected manic bi polar disorder.

Is your service officer or vet rep considering all potentials you have for a SC award?

berta the statment i got from company commander puts me in the unit it puts me at the field prblem in canada but he states i did not know if i was on the detail it was so long ago i have the place an time he,s my co he makes mention of the stressor what else would i need

If he mentions the stressor and the unit you were in was at the same time and place of the stressor-I would certainly submit this to the VA.

I am a civilian so what I am trying to understand is whether being in the same unit when this happened- would be enough for VA to accept this stressor.

Would an entire unit witness the stressor or be in proximity to it?

or did it just involve those on a specific detail?

what was the detail you were on when it happened?

[berta i was on a clean up detail on a firing range ther was about five or six of us when corpral osbourne picked up a 48 mm rocket that had not exploded when he dropped it ti exploded the rest you can assume]
