This vet went from 10% to 20% and the BVA decision might help you-

http://www.va.gov/vetapp02/files01/0202199.txt

Do you also have TMJ?

Is your malunion disability service connected yet?

If so what % comp do you get?

Is it in any way at related or part of your 50%?

Do you have TMJ or bruxism due to PTSD? (by medical statement?)

Does this condition cause you in anyway to have any gastrointestinal problems due to inability to properly chew your food?

I dont know much at about this disability- but there are claims at the BVA web site that address the same disability and maybe they would help-

as to defining what severe and moderate displacement is-

Thanks for the website - I will look at it. I initially put in for TMJ back in 2006, then found out that they have turned that into 2 claims - one for mandibular retrognathia and one for TMJ. Still waiting on a decision. The TMJ is service connected, but not by PTSD. I can only chew food on my right side (the left TMJ is the worst side). I just didn't know how they defined "severe" and "moderate" .

My 50% is for migraines and asthma (30 each)

Thanks again!

By the way Welcome aboard here Geordie- and Thank you for your service to the great US of A!

if you search at the BVA site:

you can get there via:

http://www.va.gov/index.htm (the whole VA website is excellent in my opinion)

then click on the left on the Board of Veterans Appeals link-the menu will pop up and then click on BVA decisions- and then you can search under TMJ as well as the mandible disability etc- and someone there (I try to use the 2007 cases first) there should be some VA rationale as to how they rate moderate to severe in this type of disability area.
