Where Is Your C-file Physically Stored?

Rate this question

Question

1. After you have get a Decision, is your C-file physically kept at the VARO until your appeal period is over?

2. After your appeal is over (or the 1 year appeal period if you didn't appeal your Decision) and the claim becomes "finally adjudicated" where is your C-file physically kept then?

Thanks,

TS Snave

The VARO is the primary care taker of your C-File. During the appeal period the claim could be sent to the VAMC for an exam, to an outside doc to obtain an IMO, to the BVA in washington, the court or the AMC or another VARO for a decision if your RO is back-logged.

After the appeal period is over the RO keeps your C-File in their file room for ever.

tssnave,

If you are trying to get a copy of it you must ask for it in writing. After you receive the copy you may ask for copies of other things that have been added for subsequent claims. Once you receive the copy if you ever need another copy you will have to pay for it. DJ 8 :)

I asked for a Copy of My C File last October. I called to check on it a couple of times and was given answers to get me off the phone. I called the other day when I was having computer problems and was told that I would not get a copy unless I asked for it from the Appeals Section.Another little roadblock but I sent a letter and tried to fax them at the number provided but their fax machine did not work.

The Copy I asked for was from 1996 to present as I have all the stuff since I won my claim.

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

DJ8,

Do you know what the cost is for a second copy of your C-file? You wrote "Once you receive the copy if you ever need another copy you will have to pay for it."

Thanks,

TS
