Army Intel/cia Units

I was in an Army Intel/CIA unit when I was in Korea in the 1960's and need help getting my records. Anybody got a suggestion as to how to get the CIA to kick loose with that I need to get the claim through?

i am NO expert, but i think you can request your information through the Freedom of Information Act.

i think one of the moderators could help more.

hmmm, how about requesting medical records from the doctors or hospital that treated you at the time?

You will have to file a request, via the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), with the specific "department" of the government that holds those records. All governmental agencies now have a FOIA office and this is the office that you should contact.

In your case, I'd request all records held under your name from both the CIA and the Army.

And, you can depend upon receiving "redacted" records (liberal use of a black Magic Marker).

First try NARA web site with a SF 180 and say you want all medical and personnel records.

My daughter would be in same boat- she was Mil Intel -classified-

But for VA claims purposes there is a way to get what you need-

Also all of Vietnam is declassified-and I am sure Korea is too-

at NARA a lawyer told me that there is someone there whose sole job is to declassify anything they missed when they get a request from a vet.

With any nexus you can prove -you wont need to worry about classified records anyhow.

Your DD 214 might reveal all you need for a claim-

or you might have to get buddy statements-

I dont see this as a big problem to worry about .

to contact the CIA- but wouldn't the Mil have had jurisdiction over you anyhow?

Certainly do not hesitate to get what you need veteran.
