elliottme2
How long after talking to mh should I wait to file for service connection. Should I go to multiple appointments first OR after they show the service connection (I plan to continue therapy). Right now my ocd takes up about 4 hours of my day everyday. Does any have the rating criteria for ocd.
HadIt.com Elder Testvet Posted July 24, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted July 24, 2009 you need to go ahead and start therapy regardless of the comp claim wetherit is OCD or PTSD you still need to show the nexus from military service to your current symptoms you also have to prove how the stressor for PTSD makes it a SC connection and in the caseof OCD you need to show in service treatment for OCD and a history of it since service and medical treatment since leaving duty this is one of those cases where you have to prove the problem started in service and it is still affecting you that reasonable doubt rule all it means is the VARO doubts any vet is telling the truth also with mental health issues like OCD and PTSD they pay for the highest award I have both PTSD and OCD my PTSD is rated 100% P&T my OCD is treated but no compensated they call that pyramiding and that is against the rules so they compensate the worst MH issue..... right now treatment of your symptoms should be your primary goal and file the comp claim now because it will be eyars before the appeals are finished and you can add new evidence all the way to the BVA appeal but the earlier you file it locks in the effective date for compensation to begin you need to at least write a letter on a sheet of paper to the local VARO and tell them you want to filea claim for PTSD and or OCD as long as you have been diagnosed with either or both and add evidence along the way but get the claim date filed as soon as possible my heart claim was filed in Dec 2002 my PTSD claim was filed in dec 2003 since they found my CAD and hypertension as secondary to my SC PTSD they paid me SMC S back to Dec 2003 in June 2009 the back pay was a nice size check sometimes it does take years to win but the earlier date gets a larger check
elliottme2
What do you mean by the stressor? I might have a problem I haven't really seen a doctor since military but I can prove in other ways the problem still exist. I will go ahead a send in a statement Monday. Do I have to mail it or can I take it directly there to the VARO seeing it's only a good 25 minutes away. It takes that long before a claim will possibly be paid out? anyway the biggest thing right now is getting seen. finally got an appointment
HadIt.com Elder cowgirl Posted July 24, 2009 HadIt.com Elder Share Posted July 24, 2009 I noticed a rating percentage doesnt show over to the left below your name. So that makes me wonder if you have a claim in, being decided or in another status, or if this is your first claim effort? And forgive me for possibly repeating some starting questions - Do you have a copy of your service medical records? is the issue is in your SMRS, what was the given diagnosis? do you have your claims file, if you have one? Any private doctor exam notes relating to the same issue? Good you are at Hadit, cause it best to send in a good statement if possible, saves stress later. Best to ya, Cowgirl'up2009! elliottme2
I had a claim for pes planus that just got deceided> Received 0%. But I am going to pursue it. The ocd issue I would have filed for it but didn't know that I could until I looked on here. I requested a copy of my medical records from the VARO since they still have them because of claim I just got[ decided on. The issue does show in my smr because I was sent hospitilized for 21 days And forgive me for possibly repeating some starting questions - Do you have a copy of your service medical records? is the issue is in your SMRS, what was the given diagnosis? do you have your claims file, if you have one?
