By now the VARO should have your SMR's so you will need to wait till your claim wraps up.

When I got out of the military, I was told to visit the VA and turn in my medical records. I got there and the guy asked me if I was stupid. Then he proceeded to make a copy of them and handed me the originals with advice to store them in a safe place.

You always want to have a copy of:

1. SMR's

2. VA treatment records

3. Private treatment records

4. Military personnel file

5. VA C-file

Because you are still on appeal, you might be able to get some of these quickly. Others, like the military personnel file and VA C-file might take a while to receive.

Glad to help. Having those records will be a big help. When you receive copies, be sure to check and see if anything was missing. I received my VA treatment records, but they did not contain the results of an Upper GI examination back in the late 1990's. Still tracking it down...

I have an appeal in processes at this time, however I neglected to obtain a personal copy of my SMR. How do I request this and will it interrupt my present appeal ?

Thank you.?

Is your claim in washington or your local regional office if your c-file is in washington it will delay the claim
