Help! Filing The Initial Paperwork For Ssdi When You Know Your Last Day Of Employment.

Question
mrs rockman (widow of vet)
We have heard that you can pre-file for SSDI if you know your last day of working. This way Social Security can begin to gather all of your medical records and by the time you quit they may have some of the records already. Has anyone heard of doing this?
Rockman is working 2 days a week and when he goes to his cardiologist on June 20th- he will know what his current condition is. Right now, it is not looking good and walking for him has become very very difficult. His original target date to leave his job was about the third week in July. If he has to quit earlier, he will take about 3 weeks at once to use up his leave. This would make his exit date alot earlier and probably better for him.
Thanking you in advance for any replies,
Mrs. Rockman
