I where A brace and I need to know when do I file for the yearly (clothing allowance) compensation? Thanks for the help.

You can do it now, the payment normally comes out around August September time frame. Check with prosthetics at your VA hospital.

I thought there was a cut-off (end of July??). Check with prosthetics, but if you file now, you may have to wait until next year to see the $$.

I agree ... the cutoff for this year has passed. FWIW, I believe that even getting your request in by the end of July is still cutting it pretty close, because the request has to be completed at the VAMC and then go over to your friendly neighborhood VA Regional Office for action.

Download VA Form 21-8678 http://www.vba.va.go...rms/21-8678.pdf , complete it, and either mail it or take it to your local VAMC Prosthetics Department. Myself, I'd take the form in if at all possible so I can talk to the person running that segment of the program. I'd ask them to make the allowance permanent, instead of having to apply every year.

Wow, a cut off. Due to unknown circumstances where I had to file off schedule, I have gotten CAs in January, October and in December.
