My understanding is that the VA Regional Office phone numbers are carefully guarded and not given out, as it appears they do not want to receive phone calls from vets inquiring about their claims. The 1-800 number (Peggy) is all that is publicized. Not sure if even VSO's have a "special number" to call when they make inquiries...if they do...they sure are not sharing it.

There is another option for contact = IRIS. If you go to http://www.va.gov/ Then click on contact. Then click on ask a question. You might want to look at the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) prior to sending your question as it might already be answered there.

I personally have not had a good experience with either the 1-800# or IRIS - seems like one either gets a generic response that sometimes makes no sense at all and/or they are incapable of answering the question. It appears other vets have gotten answers using IRIS though.

Both 1-800 PEGGY COULDCARELESS and IRIS are about as useless as a teatotler at a VA conference. I waited over a week for the 1-800 number to cakk me back, and when they do, they hang up on me. Call back, and they ask if I want to makr an appointment. IRIS is suppose to reply within 5 business days, mine has been over 12. I would recommend a hobby. My nex hobby is crashing VA and GSA parties.

On 2 occasions I have been given a direct # to a VARO Rep at 2 different RO's. No kidding, both times I called back the 2nd time and they never answered the phone and eventually became disconnected.

1 of them left a message at my home with a direct line and I returned the call. 2 weeks later I called back, disconnect.

There are fax numbers located here on Hadit and you can fax a letter to the RO, but I wouldn't expect a phone call. Everything I have faxed over the last 6 months or so has eventually been updated on my ebenefits.

I tend to get pretty good responses from IRIS
