Clothing Allowance Time Again

Rate this question

Question

I went to the Prosthetic Department at my local VA Medical Center as directed by letter I received. I took my damage clothes and was wearing my devices as I do daily. I was ask if I was wear my devices and I told them yes. He wrote on letter that I was wearing devices and said I will make you a copy to keep. I ask him don't you want to see my damage clothing, he said that's not necessary, I said yes it is and I pulled out every thing I brought with me and showed him. He then said ok, I make that copy now. I said first you need to annotate on the letter that you observed my damaged clothing, he said okay and wrote on it and said would you like a copy now and I said yes I would. Veterans, please make sure that they make note of all damage clothing otherwise they could deny you allowance just like they did last year with me. My appeal is still waiting a decision. I was receiving a clothing allowance for over ten years and when they changed to dual allowances I was denied one of them because they stated that it was not noted that I showed damaged clothing even though I did but because it was not noted it was denied so I only received one allowance.

Just noticed an Administrative Review opened in June and closed on the 6th of Sept. I'm hoping this is the CA. We'll see.

just got my clothing allowance. i've been reading your comments and wasn't aware of the need to bring in the torn clothes to your prothestics department. currently, i have a va issued electric wheelchair; a va issued custon knee brace; a va issued back brace and a va issued home hospital bed.

in any event, just a heads up that 2013 allowances are now being released.

No disrespect intended here, but everyone and absolutely everything I have heard or read says the CAs go out between 1 Sep and 31 Oct. Mine has been approved - per prosthetics - but no money has been deposited as of today, 22 Sep 13. I also know a pretty fair amount of people who have said theirs haven't been deposited either. Once again, I'm not attempting to be an a-hole or anything, but are you positive that was your CA? I have never known money to be released that much earlier.

Here in North Carolina, most people I know still haven't gotten their CA yet. (Apologies for my earlier question to Iceturkee - it would appear every place is different. I didn't know anybody got their CAs that early) Prosthetics says it's approved, but no deposit yet.

Anybody else in or around the Durham NC area and deal with the Raleigh Office??

Thanks

of course, it was my money. maybe it had something to do with the fact, i turned it in (completed) as soon as i got it. i will say it again........i have a va issued power chair, a va issued hospital bed and a va issued custom knee brace.

sorry, didn't see your apology.
