Question

Sorry I think this questions has been ask and answered before, but I can not find a current thread that answers my questions. In 3 days I go for a PTSD C&P exam and I don't handle uncertainty well. What are the questions they will be asking. I'm a Vietnam Vet and I think I have Legitimate answers to questions. But I do not handle surprises very well at all. Would someone please share the questions they were ask during the examination.

Some good info here on PTSD C & Ps:

It is not the time ,at a C & P exam, to minimize your PTSD issues.

If you have the CAR, CIB or a PH on your DD 214 the VA will usually concede the stressor.

I just bumped up the 2010 PTSD regulations here in our PTSD forum.

When thousands of Americans faced annihilation in the 1800s Chief

Osceola's response to his people, the Seminoles, was

simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we."

Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.

I filed a claim 04/30/2014 for PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression. As Berta said, they will ask for documentation of medals, ribbons, and citations, from your combat service. I submitted a text document explaining that I, in the Gulf War having been in a signal battalion, providing communications structure for the 3rd ACR, was never under direct fire other than scuds. I did not earn and am not qualified for combat ribbons. The only one I do have is the Southwest Asia Service ribbon.

My stressors involve handling and exposure to the smoking bodies and carnage left behind as we advanced just behind the front lines. I don't even think I qualify to be called a "combat veteran", I may, but I don't know. I never had to fire a round in Iraq.

Although I did not receive any of the citations mentioned, they still accepted my stressors, and I was awarded 70% posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD) also claimed as anxiety and depression. The VA will only SC 1 mental disorder.

70% PTSD, 50% Migraines, 40% Fibromyalgia, 30% IBS, 10% Bilateral Tinnitus, SMC - ED

Also... read the DBQ so you're not completely unprepared, but don't memorize it or make prepared answers. Just familiarize with it. Then when you go in just answer what ever questions are asked honestly and completely. DO NOT let yourself minimize your feelings, don't let the "suck it up and drive on" mentality keep you from telling them what really hurts and how much it hurts! This is not the time to "seem strong or invincible". If you are asked to relate your stressor(s) take your time, be detailed. If you forget parts of what happened tell them that. I'm don't like to go into this, but in 1 of my stressors I still can't see my truck. I know I was in it, I had to have my tools and parts, but I can't see it.

They need to hear that part to.

70% PTSD, 50% Migraines, 40% Fibromyalgia, 30% IBS, 10% Bilateral Tinnitus, SMC - ED
