Nope I think day one is the time or sooner if you know when.

Veterans deserve real choice for their health care.

Pete is correct, there is no set time frame. The minute you loose your job because of a service-connected disability and can show medical evidence that you're unable to obatin and maintain further employment do to your service-connected disabilities, you should file the VA Form 21-8940.

No, actually it should help the IU claim as long as the reason for having to take medical retirement was due to your service-conected disabilities.

In fact, you can even still be employed and file.
