Sandym3
I’m 100%. Service disabled. What does 6,000 off the Maine realestates mean? Any house that is valued more than the 6k assessment?
0 toddt
"Property Tax Exemption An other-than-dishonorably discharged resident Maine veteran who served during wartime and is 62 years or older; or, is receiving 100% VA disability; or, became 100% disabled while serving, is eligible for a $6,000 property tax exemption. Un-remarried surviving spouses are also eligible." It means they will deduct $6,000 from the assessed value of your home. i.e. if your home is assessed at $150,000 they will deduct $6,000 from that and your real estate tax will be based on that $144,000. 0 Berta
Thanks for answering that Toddt-in my locale in NY we can get two veteran's exemptions, and they give those exemptions to us widows/widowers of 100% P & T veterans. Every locale *seems to have their own criteria. Here we must file a form with the County a few months after we pay our current taxes every year. *There are only 1,100 people or less in the Town/Village I live in, but many of them are disabled veterans. More cows then people.
