Skin Cancer And Agent Orange

Rate this question

Question

I have a Vietnam vet buddy with multiple incidents of skin cancer. Does any one know of any connection between AO and skin cancer. He has not contacted the VA or asked for disability. His wife asked me if he should file.

Any answers appreciated.

If he had severe sunburn and had any problems at all documented in his SMRs as to affect of intense sunlight which obviously the boonies in Nam were extremely hot- he would have possible chance of getting the skin cancer service connected in that way -possible- depending on supportive medical opinion-but it would depend on what manifestations of it he could prove -that occured in service-

(any issue of sun creams while he was in Nam ? probably not-I dont think they made sun screens then)

any episode of sun stroke and or severe sunburn requiring hospitalizations while in service?

any skin cancer or skin lesions noted on his discharge physical?

it has been done---we had Navy vet here who proved the exposure to sun while aboard ship decades ago caused his skin cancer-

There is no know association I know of between skin cancer and Agent Orange.Makes sense but I know of no claim like that which succeeded.

simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we."

Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.
