100% Temp W/ Retirement

Rate this question

Question

I am retired w/28 years Army. I am rated @ 80% now. I just had a Total Right Knee replacement that will, per the call from the VA yesterday, have me temp rated at 100% for 1 yera. The question is, this is temp but nontheless 100%, will I receive all military retirement and 100% VA disability for the year. The CR phase in allows 100% military and VA disibility w/no phase in. But as this is a temp 100% will I qualify?

Thanks,

lewis moore

Lewis;

More than likely. No. They are not paying the TDIU 100% folks. Even the P&T ones.

But hey I would call DFAS and ask. Hopefully your knee is better. I tore mine up in Sep last year. They did not want to operate on it. Slowly getting better!

SFCMoore - check into this a little closer. Your temp rating is 100 percent schedular and not 100 percent based on IU therefore, you should draw both. When the letter hits DFAS it will/should simply state that your new rating will be 100 percent. It will not say 80 percent cause for this one year period the 80 percent is not in effect.

GRADUATE ! Nov 2nd 2007 American Military University !

When thousands of Americans faced annihilation in the 1800s Chief

Osceola's response to his people, the Seminoles, was

simply "They(the US Army)have guns, but so do we."

Sameo to us -They (VA) have 38 CFR ,38 USC, and M21-1- but so do we.

Lewis -one more thing-

I love your ribbon display-

question-

is the third one on the right in the second row from the bottom an Overseas Service medal?

Or is that an Air Force Ribbon?

It is the Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. I was in the navy for 2 1/2 years, 1973-1976, USS America CVA 66 and the USS Vulcan AR5. The America was sunk by the DOD as a test a few years ago and the Vulcan is scrap.
