VA Dental Benefits and Insurance

Well I can say yes i have both and my kids have secondary both. Va champ is also secondary but having an ex wife helps out with negotiations for child expenses…

I suggest getting ChampVA.  I believe there is no charge for ChampVA but they do have a small deductible.  They also require Medicare "B," which is the primary insurance, if you are eligible.  If not, the spouse is eligible to receive care at the VAMC and they seem to treat spouses better than vets.  At least that's been our experience.  ChampVA is very slow w/reimbursement.  As for the dental, it's probably just like most dental insurance available to the public.  jm

Doubt it is anything more than any dental insurance.  Dental insurances seem to be, not actually an insurance that pays the bill, but a group of Dentists sharing customers.

As for CHAMPVA, I would not recommend signing up for it if you have other insurance unless the other insurance is also HMO type.  If you are qualified for Medicare, you will get much better care just paying part B and picking your physicians.  You will then be able to see specialists before too late and you are dying. 

My wife could not get an appointment with a neurologist and dyed in status epilepticus because a cardiologist reduced her Keppra without getting an EEG telemetry when she was having a history of falls that were probably colonic seizures though one was probably a tonic colonic seizure that stressed her heart and put in care of the wrong specialist. 

3 days after the cardiologist's reduction of her seizure medication she died in a seizure that ended in her death before the ambulance could get to the rehab center she had been sent to too early.  Again because of CHAMPVA profiting off non payments so from inpatient care to rehab care is too quick.  Get real health insurance, not cheap HMO insurance if you want to live.
