HadIt.com Elder Buck52 Posted March 4, 2016 Author HadIt.com Elder Share Posted March 4, 2016 No she is not a veteran..I am 100% with SMC H.B. and were both Disabled can't work, she helps me on things I have personal problems with the best she can & with cooking, cleaning, laundry and grocery store but its taking its toll on her if we could get something for her from the VA to help pay someone to help us/her we both been thinking about hiring a cleaning lady and or a care giver. Berta
There is an Aid and Attendance factor for non vet spouses and the pension program: http://www.canhr.org/factsheets/misc_fs/html/fs_aid_&_attendance.htm But I assume your spouse gets CHAMPVA. And that you don't get Pension, you get direct SC. I would ask the VSO at the VA what they meant by that. And she should look over the CHAMPVA booklet. I will too when I have time...I have no idea what the VSO is talking about....maybe he thinks you get a VA pension.
Berta
to add.... Surviving spouses (like me) are eligible for Aid and Attendance in addition to our regular DIC: http://www.index.va.gov/search/va/view.jsp?FV=http://www.va.gov/vetapp14/Files5/1435600.txt But you are far from making your wife a 'surviving' spouse Buck..... I hope the VSO clarifies this for you and we all need to know what he/she meant.
