  1. So now that I have finally realized that I am now 70 percent and am now back to reality. I now have an orientation for department of voc rehab and it's just going to get better and better. Hopefully I will be able to get school paid for because God knows how much money I have spent trying to finish up my degree. Hopefully I get positive news at the voc rehab orientation telling me that I can finally finish up school and not struggle or stress to find a way to pay for it Oh yeah... Thank you everybody once again for all your kind and encouraging words... It really does make a difference.
  2. Thank u both for the words of encouragement... I really have a positive outlook on things now that I have finally realized this is the start to my future and any way I can help my fellow veterans so be it. I am currently trying to get my buddy who works with me in security to apply for his VA claim as well. He was active army for four years and I do believe he is also entitled to some kind of compensation for his PTSD....
  3. Thanks for a all the help out there because god knows I need it. I will check into that more and since I am working and I want to have school as priority number one... I already requested the application for dep. Of voc. Rehab as of Monday... I'll see how everything goes from here and I think it's going to be alright
  4. Just to make a long story short... I was on ssa long before and while I was on ssa I chose to work and they gave me a two for one. For every two dollars I made they took one dollar from sdi/ssi. I worked retail while doing this so it was under the 1600 dollar gross mark. And while I was working before I still received medical and Medicare so I can receive medications as well as see a psychiatrist under my medical insurance. Now that I am 70 percent service connected, I do eventually want to just be coverred by VA for all my medical issues. I am currently working now under the understanding that I do not exceed that 1600 dollar mark take home from my current job. Right now working is not for the money. It in actuality is for keeping myself busy until my school starts in January. I did my research and homework on working while under ssi/sdi for example bugging my social worker and my psychiatrist with bucket loads of questions regarding work. They actually encouraged me to work so that I can keep myself busy other than school because school is great but the self gratification from working just keeps me going and fills myself as a man with joy of talking about and being a positive person to people that are my peers that are just on ssi/sdi. I just take what I am receiving from the government as a blessing and I give my thanks everyday. I look at it this way. I served my country now it's time for me to serve my fellow Americans that have given thanks to me. Thank u everybody from hadit... You're words of wisdom are very encouraging to me. Thank you
  5. I'm getting the fiduciary thing resolved when I get the letter sometime soon. But my parents are my payees with ssa and hopefully that means they can be with the VA as well. Just crossing my fingers that it will all go well
  6. After submitting my claim from October of 2010.... My prayers have finally been answered. I am sdi and now I am finally apart of the club. 70 percent along with sdi. No more waiting and no more playing the games with the VA. 70 percent is what I am going to be getting for compensation for the rest of my life. I am going to use the retro pay for school because I started my claim qt the Oakland regional office and now that I have moved to Hawaii with my dad and step mom, things have certainly made the turn for the better. I am very happy with their decision and now I can sleep better at night knowing that I have accomplished this fate after so many years of debating weather to go through the VA since getting out of the military back in 2006. I am now working and going to go back to school in January. I finally did it and I am so thankful for all the advice and people here on this website. I am doing the happy dance and going to be doing a lot more dancing. I was on floating at work on Saturday when I got the big brown envelope on Saturday. I have incomptetency though with their decision but I look at it as a blessing no matter how you put it. I am going to now finish school and continue to progress. This is the start of my new life and it's just going to get better. Having a fiduciary with my money may just be the best thing to happen because I'm 24 years old and I don't think that having this kind of finacial responsibility is good for me right now. Thank you to all the people here on this forum and I truly feel blessed to have this happen to me. Thank u again!
  7. I have been waiting on my claim for VA now since the 28th of October of last year (2010) my claim has moved in a direction I was not expecting. The other day I called the VA and one of the representatives told me that I need to sign a paper giving them the right to appoint me a fiduciary. I don't know much about that program other than it is a VA appointed payee on my behalf. Does this mean that my claim is being processed by the Oakland RO? And does it mean that my claim is closer to being finalized? Any feedback will help.
  8. I submitted my claim for schizoaffective bipolar type back in october of 10'. I was winderring what does it mean when the va tells me that they are waiting on medical evidence? I thought they already had all the evidence in December when it came to SSA and the c and p exam as well as Monterey county behavioral health. Thanks
  9. I actually woke up this morning and worked out. Couldn't run due to the rain and weather but I plan on doing that in the morning. Prayed got ready for the day and now I feel really good because of the posts I read this morning on HadIt.
  10. You are all right. Thank u all for the feedback. I actually started working out everyday and since I am already am on social security I do have somewhat of fun just going to the movies with friends and also go get out of the house and grab a cup of coffee at the local Starbucks. I really started to stress out last month really bad because I was expecting it to come in but after a while and deep prayer and guidance from my dad who was in the same boat five years ago when he got out of the army after four years in the marines and about 18 in the army just told me to go read books exercise watch tv, anything to get my mind off of it. I just pray everyday and am thankful that I have a great support system with friends and family along with a great support system with all of you on HadIt. I can breathe better now that all of you have given me such positive feedback. I hope to hear more.
  11. So the va called today and they told me they still need to get the records from the hospital regarding my schizoaffective bipolar type medical evidence. They need all the records so I wonder if it is good news or not. I called the va last week and they told me it was in the development phase and they already have all the evidence from SSA c and p exam and the hospital so now I'm just playing the waiting game. Help please.
  12. So I put in my claim for schizoaffective bipolar type back in October of 2010. Have everything from behavioral health c and p exam and SSA records already in place. The Oakland RO has been telling me that it is still in development stage. I don't know what to do besides mailbox watch and va 800 hassle. Almost at my wits end, any suggestion for what to do? My dad and mom tell me just read a book go exercise hang out with buddies or talk to social worker/ counselors. What else should I do?
  13. Great news! Maybe I'll be in the same boat you're in soon because I just submitted my claim back in October of 2010. Again congratulations!
  14. I also submitted my claim on october of 2010 and have not received any information besides that it is at the Oakland RO in the development phase. I already had the c and p submitted as well as my SSA records and Monterey county behavioral health records. All I'm waiting on is the Oakland RO to move it to the next phase. USN NCS HM
