  1. i agree strange 30%. the original records were turned in june 12 sept 12 my condition worsened. early Nov 12 tests confirmed i needed to have a repair. i went to the C&P exam on the 28th the day before surgery brought documentation from nov tests and documentation surgery was required but only received 30%. They were able to repair so i have an angoplastry ring but original valve.

  4. Hello I am new at this so please forgive me. Last week I received the letter my initial claim was closed and was awarded a combined 60% I was awarderd 30% for a heart condition they service connected. Three weeks ago i underwent open heart surgery for that condition if my research is correct i should receive 100% for 3 to 6 months after surgery. My question is how do i notify the VA of the change do I open a new claim? if anyone can help it would be very nice.
  5. I received my brown envelope today a combined rating of 60% effective date for rattings is Jul 1, 2012. for award payment it says Aug 1,12 $1009,00 all withheld then Dec 1, 2012 $1026(cola adjustment) but witheld they explain witheld benefits until Jan 1, 2013 due to CRDP so i do not get double paid. Does anyone know how long it takes for DFAS to figure things out and will i evently get retroactive pay for Aug-Dec
  6. The system actually works I submitted a quick start claim in June 12. Three of the conditions submitted were for heart problems. In Oct I learned that one condition became worse and was going to require open heart surgery with a valve repair. By coincidence my C&P exam was scheduled the day before surgery Nov 29. I contacted the VA several times via email to ask if the claim could be expedited since if the heart condition is service connected it would be 100% for 3 to 6 monts. I went to the C&P exam with full documentation of pre op tests proof of surgery and proof of having to be home for 3 months. Today in E- benefits just two weeks later shows it went to preparation for notification today.
  7. I have my C&P Exams on Wed. A couple of conditions have become much worse since the paperwork was submitted. in fact for one condition i am having open heart surgery the next day(thursday) to replace a valve. can anyone give me any advice for the C&P exams 1. full initial exam 2. PTSD initial 3. Asthma (PFT) 4. Echo(heart)- On Nov 5th i had a TEE and a cardiac cath procedure should i bring the results i have those on a CD
  8. Hello I am new to this Forum. I recently retired form active Duty in June 12. I submitted a quick claim ( not so quick) two of the conditions on the initial claim were for heart issues. Its now November and I just got scheduled for my C&P's first whats weird is I live 5 miles from a big VA facility but they are sending me to one thats 135 miles a way for the exam. the next is my heart condition has got much worse. in fact just 2 weeks ago i had an Echo, a TEE, and a cardiac Cath. the results are I am having open heart surgery to replace my mitral valve. my C&P exam is the day before surgery. they have me scheduled for an echo I told them about the recent tests and the surgery the next day and they still want to waste time to do the echo themselves. no wonder it takes so long to get for appointments they are wasting time. Well overall i hope the C&P goes well and paperwork gets processed quickly I have been told i should get 100% for my 3 months of recovery.
