  1. Again thanks so much for the info, everyone. I have not done that Buck, but plan to call FT Meade today for that. I am retired so I do have a retired DOD card, but will do the VA vet disability card. And thanks Berta, I am not drawing pay yet as I am not quite 60, but soon, so the CRDP isn't into play yet.

Some great info on here. Not trying to knock other websites but I was a member of one and man, if you asked a question that someone deemed 'dumb' you got hammered. Yucku or something. Oh well thanks Buck for the welcome.

BTW, I tried to intro myself on the intro section but yesterday I could not start a new thread there, maybe today is different as I just joined yesterday?

  2. I was recently awarded 40% for pay, knee, back, tinnitus, hearing. I feel as though my knee and back should be higher, thus the NOD. I have more evidence as well. I also have a few issues that I didn't file in the original claim, but now have secured the documents, so thats the reason for a new claim.

So my question is would it create an issue or drag both of them down to a crawl if I were to file the NOD and new claim at the same time?

Also, generally speaking, do NODs take as long as the original claim, or is there no rhyme or reason to the time frame involved?

  3. Understood and I knew the VA and military cards are totally different, just wasn't sure about the Veterans card....thanks and I will call Ft Meade Md and get one down there.

I of course would go to any VA docs appt or whatever, so thats not an issue

    Thanks for the replies guys.

  4. Hi, new guy here. Filed my claim in Jan 2015. It was approved a couple of weeks ago, 40% for pay, 50% overall. I am happy but will be filing a NOD and a new claim for a few issues I wasn't able to file with the initial claim as I didn't have enough evidence. So my retro pay has been put in the bank and now I can go fwd with what I mentioned about. I also received SSDI and LTD from work. I have a huge issue that would be very difficult to marry with my military time, but there are some others that should be easier.

I am retired military and was wondering something. I received a call from the VA on saturday, (a strange day for a call), telling me of my medical benefits, free medical, free prescrip., etc. She was trying to get me to make an appt at a local VA clinic but I don't really need to see a VA doc for regular care as I have my own PCP and specialists. She also said I can go to Ft Meade Md to get my Veterans ID card with my disability on it. I have a retired ID card, do I still need a Veterans card? I guess if it has my rating on it I prob should.
